Moving Tyler Larsen up to the starting lineup has drastically improved the protection up front. It could be a season-saving type of move, not playoffs, but as it relates to Sam Howell. For 7 weeks it was about finding a solution to the amount of hits/sacks that Sam was taking b/c…

Here's the thing I found myself thinking when watching it back. The protections are much better set than before, they aren't having the schematic issues that they had in that Giants game. But Larsen himself has struggled with stunts (guards haven't helped him either)

Should have happened way sooner. 2nd half of the Giants game was the beginning. Only 1 sack and they were a chippy FG and a drop away from scoring 17 in the half. Way too late with scheme changes, but glad they finally figured it out.

One of those “sacks” was the super high snap that Sam had to go all Spider-Man just to catch. When he came down Gibby had already crossed for the run play. Sam marched forward to minimize the loss on the play. That play should not count as a sack.
@LetMualTellit
Not just the sacks, but a cleaner pocket up the middle, which is crucial for a shorter QB, an extra half yard to see can make the difference.

💯 agree - now with our extra pick for Sweat and our own first rounder we should be able to draft two top flight starting offensive tackles. I have some hope with the new analytics hire that this group knows that and values protection for who they think is their QB solution.
@LetMualTellit
if u ever played QB, getting hit, and if a hit hurt, well any QB will have "caution" bc well the QB has a memory!
Not letting Sammy off, but Sammy is proving he is NOT the problem, and THAT is the fact in everything this season!
Don't ask QBs to be Perfect, bc NONE are!
