@LetMualTellit
People saying Howell is holding the ball causing these sacks are just flat out wrong. The one sack was because he didn't throw the bubble which the Cb looked to jump so he just ran and lost a yard. That one really isn't a sack. The good news is they didn't get bullied for sacks.
@RRose78
I think the two I gave out on Howell are ones he could've gotten rid of the ball. One was the blown-up screen, and the other was a scramble toward the sideline. The other four are beyond his control.
@LetMualTellit
That sack on Thomas was really on EB. Terrible scheme to have your least capable blocking TE have to go one on one against an edge rusher.
@LetMualTellit
Exactly. People going crazy over the line and even the one Gates gave up he said I just took my eye off him. He didn’t get overpowered or anything like that. He missed his assignment.
@LetMualTellit
The sacks on the o line are the hardest to correct the rest can be addressed. But the o line didnt face a good d line so ut could get worse. Which is why the other sacks cant happen
@LetMualTellit
Yes...it was a weird 6 sacks yesterday...not the typical way you see 6 sacks happen (just think back to last year). I would say 5 of the 6 sacks are pretty easily correctable or were just kind of fluky (BRob one in particular).
@LetMualTellit
Howell had problems at UNC with bolding the ball too long, particularly in critical situations where he was trying to make a play. He will have to clean that up or those numbers will go up as the season progresses
@LetMualTellit
I'm looking at the boxscore and I don't see how we can say its 6 sacks.
I don't really count the sack by Fotu since it was for -1 yards.
Same with the sack by Ledbetter since it was no gain.
I get "technically" but nah
I need to see the ones by Watkins and Dimukeje
@LetMualTellit
I saw it this way too.
And for people who haven’t watched it back, the sack/fumble: the sack was on Wylie, the fumble on Sam. He had to see that coming and take better care of the ball.
