Contract talks with Taylor Heinicke will be interesting this offseason. How much will Washington be willing to pay and what does Taylor want out of his next opportunity
@LetMualTellit
At this point he has to be in the $5-8mil per year range right??
Like top tier backup money.
Like 3 years, 17 million. 11.5 million gtd with most of that last 5.5 based on snap % and performance/win bonuses
@LetMualTellit
Taylor isn’t going anywhere, part of what makes him work here is that he has a coaches knowledge of this offense, and that’s big time in a QB room bc he can coach the other QBs aside from the OC, and QB coach
@LetMualTellit
TH as of today has potentially played himself into Tyrod/Mariota $, if he’s lucky. His numbers are still bad & I think people understand his entire tenure has been under one system & coach. So if he’s offered 2 years at $10 he better pounce. It’s double what he makes now
@LetMualTellit
It's not even clear he'll be the starter next week! The range of possible extensions is enormous. Basically league minimum to starter money for multiple years
@BDesco
He's going to start vs. Houston lol. But i do agree that with 7 games left, he can definitely make or break his potential future earnings with good/poor performance.
@LetMualTellit
Interesting thing is given his physical attributes/“eye” test, no team would be willing to take him as a starter. Not a Case Keenum / Teddy B. situation here. He should still be reasonably priced. Commanders should lock him in.
@LetMualTellit
They’re probably gonna wish him well in FA. They shouldn’t IMO but with Howell there a cheap an perhaps viable

, and likely drafting a QB in the 1st rd, I just don’t see where Taylor fits in that scenario. Plus someone’s gonna give Taylor a decent bag even as a backup.
@LetMualTellit
2yrs $15m w/$10m guaranteed. If you tell me I have to go to $17m I will. No one wants him as a starter & no one will pay the backup more than that. He’s our starter in 2023.
