Today is my spiritual birthday! 39 years ago, after 2 years of exploring the evidence, I shed my atheism and received Jesus as my Lord and Savior. Glory to God, he has totally transformed my life and eternity!
THANKS SO MUCH to all who prayed for my skin cancer surgery. The surgeon examined me and said the biopsy got virtually all the tumor. No surgery -- instead, external chemo to get rid of the few remaining cancer cells. Great news! Praising God! Again, I appreciate your prayers.
Please pray for our daughter, Alison, who tested positive for COVID-19. She has struggled with it for several days. She’s under treatment and no one else in the household shows symptoms. Leslie and I have been out of town and not exposed. Thank you!
I didn't become a Christian because God promised I'd have an even happier life than I had as an atheist. Rather I became a Christian because the evidence was so compelling Jesus really is the one-and-only Son of God who proved his divinity by rising from the dead.
To continue in atheism, I would need to believe that nothing produces everything, non-life produces life, randomness produces fine-tuning, chaos produces information, unconsciousness produces consciousness, and non-reason produces reason. I simply didn't have that much faith.
38 years ago today — Nov 8, 1981 — I yielded my life to the King of Kings and Lord of Lords. I expected to stay as a journalist, but God had different plans. The result has been a life of unmatched adventure! Thank you, Lord, for forgiving my sins and leading my life!
Why do I write books? Because of emails like this one that just popped into my inbox:
Lee, I am 70 years old. My daughter sent me " The Case For Christ". The two of you led me to Jesus. Yesterday I was water baptized. I just wanted to thank you.
In all my years as a Christian, I’ve never seen so many self-professed atheists come to faith in Christ as I have this Easter season. Staggering! God is on the move!
Spoke at pro-life event in Michigan tonight. Man in audience fell over dead. No pulse. CPR wasn’t helping. 800 Christians in room began praying and singing Anazing Grace. He bounced back, fully alert. I’m glad God is pro-life!
51 years ago today, Leslie and I got married. So thankful for our life of love and adventure! We never could have anticipated what God had in store for us!
To continue in atheism, I'd need to believe nothing produces everything, non-life produces life, randomness produces fine-tuning, chaos produces information, unconsciousness produces consciousness, and non-reason produces reason. I just didn't have that much faith.
The report on sexual sins by Ravi Zacharias is horrific. He deceived so many. My heart goes out to his victims. Ravi was among those I interviewed 20 yrs ago for The Case for Faith. My publisher and I decided to halt printings of the book, and I am working on a revised edition.
Having breakfast by myself at a little cafe while Leslie has minor surgery around the corner. When four Black police officers left their nearby table they stopped by and paid for my meal. “You looked a little sad,” they explained.
I met Jesus 37 years ago. He redeemed me, He lavished undeserved love on me, He adopted me as His son, and He has encouraged and guided me every day since then. Words cannot capture my gratitude for His grace. I owe Him everything.
Please pray for my daughter Alison and granddaughter Abigail, who were in rollover crash this morning. They are being checked out but appear to be okay, thank God.
If God can take the worst thing that could ever happen (the death of his Son on a cross) and turn it into the best thing that could ever happen (the opening of heaven for all who follow Him), then He can draw good from the struggles you're facing. (Romans 8:28)
Mourning our loss of
@RaviZacharias
but grateful he is now safe in the arms of his beloved Savior. Such a towering intellect, such a kind and caring gentleman. Thankful for his life of serving and proclaiming Christ.
UPDATE: Again, heart-felt thanks to the 8,166 Twitter folks praying for my daughter Alison's recovery from Covid. This is Day 8 and she's doing better. Blood oxygen level is good. Lungs clear. Still a way to go, but your prayers are making a difference! Blessings to all! Lee
Today, Nov. 8, is my 40th spiritual birthday. On this day 4 decades ago — after a 2-year investigation of the evidence — I put my trust in Christ by receiving his free gift of grace in a prayer of repentance and faith. Changed my life and eternity! Thank you, Lord!

: This is the most detailed MRI scan of an unborn baby.
At just 20 weeks, she’s moving, turning her head, and kicking. Her beating heart is also visible.
Human life is a miracle.
The pastor at Christmas Eve service said Immanuel means "God With Us." With that, a little girl in the row behind me shouted out in the most innocent voice, full of wonder and joy: "God is with us."
She gets Christmas.
48 years ago today, Leslie And I got married. So grateful for her love all these years, but especially glad that she introduced me to her best friend — Jesus!
Lost my wallet at the rental car facility of the New Orleans Airport, including driver's license, all my credit cards, etc. Really bummed! Then today got a Fed Ex package with the wallet (with everything, including cash) sent back. A Christian had found it. Praise God!
I've been following Amy Coney Barrett's career for a while because she's on the 7th Circuit Court of Appeals, which I covered as legal editor of the Chicago Tribune. From a nonpartisan perspective, focusing on her legal acumen and philosophy:
She. Is. Awesome.
It feels odd to preach to an empty auditorium, as I did last wknd, but God still works thru live streaming. Our church had 49,087 people watching last wknd and 350 salvations. That's just one church. Think what He'll do thru so many other churches during this crisis!
Let's follow the science: a recent 5-year research study revealed 95% of biologists from 1,058 academic institutions confirm that “a human’s life begins at fertilization.”
As an atheist, I studied evidence at Yale Law School. Wrote a book on evidentiary issues used in some law schools. Was Legal Editor of largest newspaper between coasts. Maybe that's why I recognized pretty quickly that the evidence for Christianity is so persuasive.
If you ever met Ravi, read one of his books or heard him speak, he undoubtedly impacted your life. He was challenging & encouraging at the same time. Wisdom, compassion, grace. A rare gift. Thank you, Ravi. Looking forward to seeing you on the other side.
Want to talk about Jesus? I’m at Gate C8 at the Charlotte airport. Stop by if you’re in the area. Seekers and skeptics especially welcome! There’s a frozen yogurt stand nearby. I’ll treat!
When this tragic pandemic is over, we need a long and sober national conversation about civil liberties and the powers and limits of government. The pandemic has exposed fractures that need to be addressed and healed.
Your prayers are working — thanks for lifting my daughter Alison to the Lord. Today is her and Dan’s 17th wedding anniversary and her COVID symptoms have greatly subsided! She’s clearly on upward trend. Thank you!
Loving your neighbor in pandemic: local man saw elderly person with walker who was almost in tears because he couldn't find toilet paper at grocery. The man helped the older gent to his car and said, "You go home. I'll find toilet paper at a store somewhere and bring it to you."
Mourning today the death of my older brother Ray, who succumbed to the flu at 4:30 this morning after recent surgery. No doubt about it: he was one of a kind. Praying for his widow, Jo.
52 years ago this month, two teenagers named Lee and Leslie crossed paths for the first time in a brief encounter on a wind-swept Chicago street. We've now been married 46 years. Thanks, Lord, for putting us together!
If God can take the worst thing that could ever happen - the death of His Son - and turn it into the best thing that can ever happen - the opening of heaven for all who follow Him - then He can take your difficulties and draw good from them, if you trust in Him.
On all levels, Roe v Wade was an abomination. Thank God it was overturned today by a courageous court. Pray for safety of pro-life centers that are already being attacked by domestic terrorists. Now this becomes a state-by-state struggle for the lives of the unborn.
I met a pastor last year who said when he meets someone who's not a Christian, he invites them to his house to watch The Case for Christ movie. I asked him how that's going. "So far 37 people have come to faith." I was stunned! So thankful for the way God uses that film.
42 years ago today —November 8, 1981 — I was adopted by God into His family (John 1:12). Still staggered by His grace in forgiving and redeeming a sinner like me. So grateful for His love!
Met a guy at Real Life Church in Florida who said he had been an atheist but watched THE CASE FOR CHRIST movie anyway. "I liked the film but disagreed with your conclusion. I ended up spending a year doing my own investigation of Jesus -- and now I'm a Christian, too."
My precious granddaughter Abigail was baptized this morning! Praising God for his love and grace. So proud of you, Abby, for publicly declaring your faith in Christ!
I am grateful for TODAY. Today I talked with my Savior. Today Leslie and I held hands and walked. Today I ate lunch with two granddaughters. Today I worked on a book about Jesus. Today I encouraged a friend. Today I felt the love of God. It was a good day. Good night.
ANOTHER UPDATE: Unfortunately, as Alison enters her 9th day with Covid, she has now lost both her sense of taste and smell. Thanks for your continued prayers as she fights this virus.
If God can take the worst thing that could ever happen in the universe -- the death of the Son of God -- and turn it into the best thing that could ever happen -- the opening of heaven to all who follow Him -- then He can draw good from whatever problems we face.
The purpose of Christmas is Easter. Jesus was born to die. Jesus didn’t just come to show bad people how they should live; He came so that dead people could come alive.
Thanks to the quarantine & the need for online Easter services, so many more people heard the gospel this year. Our church had 103,113 viewers & 999 salvations -- and we're just one church among thousands. Thankful for how God is drawing good from a bad situation.
My naturally skeptical nature was honed at Yale Law School and in the newsroom of the Chicago Tribune. The only thing that could overcome it was the tsunami of scientific and historical evidence pointing toward the truth of Christianity.
Latest on daughter Alison and granddaughter Abby — doctors checked them out and they’re miraculously fine after their horrendous rollover crash. Thank all of you for your prayers! You’re the best of Twitter!
Twitter at its best -- THANK YOU to the 7,047 people who said they'd pray for my daughter Alison as she battles Covid. She's under treatment and doing okay for now. I'll keep you posted. Blessings to each of you! Lee
Jesus is the most wonderful, loving, gracious, generous Being in existence. He is the sum and substance of all we seek. He is everything we need. He is the culmination of our deepest longings. He is our comfort, our joy, our dearest friend. Do you know him?
God loves all. Skeptics. Agnostics. Atheists. Anti-theists. His Son died to pay for their sins and open the door to heaven for all who come to Him in repentance and faith. The door is open, thanks to God's grace. Entry is free.
