The Republican leader in the Senate said putting our children in pre-K is "institutionalizing" them and he’s not sure he wants to live in that kind of society.
We disagree. We want to live in a society where we invest in our children and provide opportunities for every child.
Contradicting himself, Stivers begged the federal government in 2018 to "invest in quality early childhood education programs" including pre-K.
"These programs all make kids more successful."
"We will all benefit from that success for decades to come."
It's no coincidence Senator Stivers’ newfound disdain for pre-K comes after
@GovAndyBeshear
proposed record investments in education and in our children including pre-K for all 4 year olds.
He shouldn’t turn his back on our children just to continue his attack on our governor.
@KyDems
Says the same guy who represents the party that took power away from the governor so schools could be kept open to “protect the mental health of kids” 😂💀😂💀
@KyDems
What studies say pre-k has no impact?!?
Universal Pre-K is a threat to Republican GOP
A smarter generation shrinks the GOP base, with less gullible people to radicalize
@KyDems
Let's stick to the statistics instead of Republican opinion. Studies have consistently shown that kids with pre-K (including those in HeadStart) do better academically than those who don't. The only thing that costs more than a good education is the lack of it.
@KyDems
So he prefers that parents continue to "fudge" on pre-school apps so their 4 year old can attend? Like pretending to be separated to meet the "earnings criteria" or have them evaled for speech issues when there are none. 🤷♀️
