I tried to get a few moon shots on Friday. This one turned out okay, it wasn't easy to figure out the best settings for the situation but it sure was fun trying!

@KristinLRaught i was told informally years ago that since the moon is simply reflected sunlight, simply meter for the sun and work around that setting. it worked for me.

@BENT15531772 Cool, okay. I just I just kind of lost my head and was trying to figure out how to compensate for the NL and not wanting to lose them with less light but not too much light that it'd blow out the moon.

@KristinLRaught I was having the same issue! I didn’t get a good shot of the moon with the aurora until it was right at the horizon

@missmisti Oh, I bet that did work pretty good! I was way up in the mountains and it dipped behind the trees so I didn't see it on the horizon.

@KristinLRaught Nice! I agree, I too struggled to find the right camera setups for the continually changing skies, guessing I was disappointed with 90% of what I shot Friday night. Oh well, at least it wasn't rolls of film! 😆

@smitty_mark It was pretty fun and exciting and nerve-racking all at the same time! I probably had 25% success rate 😂

@KristinLRaught My Northern Lights pics were all blurry. Out of 40 I think 2 turned out okay but had no context or foreground. I think I've dropped my phone one too many times for it to take decent pics anymore. You have a few great shots though! 😎👌🏽

@KristinLRaught This was the best I got of the moon and aurora from Port Orchard, but I also really like this one of the Big Dipper in the aurora.

@KristinLRaught Nice!!! I was totally kicking myself for not grabbing a moon with aurora shot :) How often do we get this opportunity, right? Glad you thought of it!
