The xz package, starting from version 5.6.0 to 5.6.1, was found to contain a backdoor. The impact of this vulnerability affected Kali between March 26th to March 29th. If you updated your Kali installation on or after March 26th, it is crucial to apply the latest updates today.

With the new update of openvpn 2.6 the deprecated `cipher` option has finally been dropped. If your openvpn client file doesn't work any more try replacing the `cipher` parameter with `data-ciphers` inside the same file.

Using Wireguard on Kali Linux -
We had been hearing a lot of good things about Wireguard, and wanted to give it a try to see what all the fuss was about. We put together a nice little tutorial on how to get it up, running, and configured on Kali.
In Kali 2021.4 the sound was broken for some users. This can be fixed by running sudo apt update && sudo apt full-upgrade then rebooting the machine.
We have released a 2021.4a image with this issue corrected.
