There could be as many as 130 “hidden homicides” a year in England and Wales, the Killed Women group estimates. Their new campaign, called Fallen Women, is urging police forces to track the numbers of cases where a woman has fallen from a height.

A man who murdered his partner by hitting her over the head with a hammer has been jailed for life over a decade after the attack in Romford in 2009. Carolyn was left with an irreparable brain injury and died from her injuries in September 2022.

Data from the National Police Chiefs’ Council shows at least one suicide victim every 4 days in England and Wales, and a murder by a partner every 4 to 5 days. In four out of five of those cases, the abuser was already known to the police.

Killed Woman, Salford, November 2023: The ex-partner who killed Perseverance in front of her two children after she broke up with him has been jailed for life, with a minimum of 27 years. He changed his plea to guilty on the first day of his trial.
Gracie Spinks' killer 'harassed multiple other female colleagues'. The man who killed Gracie had previously behaved inappropriately towards at least eight other female colleagues. He clearly thought this was acceptable behaviour. We cannot ask Gracie.
