It's not just about conservative judges. Kavanaugh specifically is being pushed thru because of Gamble v. US. The hope is he'll be there to rule & Presidential pardons will be extensible to STATE charges. It's to get away with the Russia conspiracy, money laundering, tax evasion.
I'm not American so need to know. After Trumps deranged rant about Dr Ford, why are his approval ratings % not in single figures?
It is this low around most of the developed world. Why can so many American people be blind and deaf to this appalling racist, sexist charlatan...
@stucam7771
I am an American☹️. Trump’s base is intent on filling the courts with extremely conservative judges, so that they can control laws & rulings. The wealthy want to increase their power & grow their wealth. The rest are energized with fear that their culture will change.

That's not the issue in Gamble. The issue is whether a State can prosecute crimes under its own laws that have already been pardoned under Federal law. It is NOT about whether the President can directly pardon crimes at the State level. It would take an amendment to do that.

That's right, but Gamble dances VERY close to that issue. Remove the dual sovereignty exception, and the Presidential pardon could be considered extensible. Read the amicus brief filed by Orrin Hatch in the case in September. This is where they're going.

Some of you are worried there’s a case going to SCOTUS that may “get rid of double jeopardy” and “allow Trump to pardon state crimes.”
Or, as Pat puts it:
It seems the case you're all worrying about is Gamble v. US.

Thank you for sharing. I'd seen that. We're still worried. Many of us don't want that orange bâtard and his accomplices to get away with conspiracy against the United States or any of the other crimes. What irks us most is the complicity of the

Exactly. There are plenty of good conservative judges to elevate to the Supreme Court. It’s got to be THIS one for Trump to avoid responsibility for his crimes.

Precisely. Orrin Hatch filed an amicus brief in the case in September, arguing that the Court should reconsider the dual sovereignty exception, so he's clearly in on the scheme as well. I wonder how much Russian money has made it into the US as dark-money crypto-currency ...

Gamble vs US deals with the same crime being prosecuted by state and fed, correct? The argument is that it’s double jeopardy and the president can pardon both simultaneously. How does this extend to the Pres pardoning State convictions generally? Or does it?

The facts I discuss here are independently verifiable. Boof Kavanaugh has nothing to do with Hillary Clinton. His designated task is to rule on Gamble v. US. That's why the insane rush to get him on the court, because it's on the October docket.
