I see a lot of comments/complaints abt this. Here’s the thing, a non-violent protest is not organized according to comfort zone of others. If you’re commenting on what the players did instead of asking abt the issues that moved them to act, you’re missing #WhatMatters .

@JudiGatson Why is that you have to mention the phrase “nonviolent protest”. It seems that it has become not a protest but a lack of respect for the men and women that have given their lives for this Country that we call America. Stand for the Flag and the Anthem.

@jlovenorth20 I didn’t have to use the phrase “nonviolent protest.” I chose to use it b/c: 1) that’s exactly what it is and 2) to convey the point that using their voice & exercising their rights in this nonviolent way does not rob anyone else of anything, figuratively or literally. 1/

@JudiGatson Exactly. I love the theme this year. We must remember what matters to one person might be different to someone else. And if you read their statement that's what they said BUT they respect each others and they can come together as a team. I LOVE this team & Coaches. Proud Fam!

@JudiGatson 1/ I see people saying “go visit Ft. Jackson National Cemetery”...where my father, a proud Navy Fireman, is buried...or “go to the VA and see disabled vets”... ...they’ve completely missed the point.

@JudiGatson I will always stand for the anthem because of what it means to me and my family. But I will also never judge someone for not standing.

@JudiGatson @livv_thom The people are complaining and calling the ladies disrespectful. I say why play the song at all at a sporting event? It is way over used, they aren't playing for the national team and the game is not a military event. #whatmatters I stand and sit with @dawnstaley & team

@JudiGatson It makes me sad to see. It makes me sadder to think of how they feel that led them to protest. We as a nation can do better on all fronts. I support their choice to express themselves whether they sit or stand.

@JudiGatson Piss poor decision and I call b.s. They stood last year. Are you saying social injustices didn't exist last year? Bad leadership from the staff.

@JudiGatson People are just losing respect for this country. This is what makes me sad. All of this is not about right or wrong, it's about respecting the country that gives you the opportunity to be all you can be. Happy Thanksgiving.
