This is economically illiterate and borders on
#climate
denialism. Unless we give industry some certainty, they won’t invest in
#GreenEnergy
generation and clean transport. The UK will lose jobs. Mr Sunak is proposing a lose-lose.

As North of Tyne Mayor, I declared a
#climateemergency
on my first day in office. It’s led to thousands of good
#greenjobs
. We’ve created the training courses for people to earn good money in these industries. The
#NorthEast
cannot afford a Westminster Government that abandons…
Both major parties need to understand that you cannot negotiate with physics – the planet is burning and our children and grandchildren will not thank us if we play politics with their future.

@MayorJD
we dont want investment in green energy, dont you think people in this country have enough financisl problems without this nonsense to pay for as well, add into that it simply dosent work, less energy, less electricity, wind farms to power enough and hurt the environment etc etc.
@MayorJD
@FarrPatrica
How? I cannot believe I'm saying this, but on most of it, I agree with him....on the face of it. I disagree on the new oil and gas licences, also on no taxes on flights... but some of it he is absolutely correct.
@MayorJD
Its a load of tin foil hat bollocks but I will say this; we should not be giving corporations state handouts to enable them to control our energy policy as we transition to renenewables.
We need our energy owned by and run for the benefit of the British people. End of story.
@MayorJD
We "gave industry some certainty" during the last labour government, via Gordon Brown & Ed Miliband.
The price of new boilers, boiler servicing contracts, insulation, etc. all went through the roof.
The promised bill savings never materialised either.
