@MayorJD @AndyBurnhamGM I agree with Andy , but do people really believe if Starmer was in charge he would give Mayor's full responsibility. Look at the way he controls the labour party, a dictator. Anyone with a slightly different view is blocked. I don't trust him.

@MayorJD @AndyBurnhamGM Actually UK needs more directly elected mayors. It's practically impossible to change local government councils overnight thus deliberately turning people away from democracy. There should be regional Parliaments and then locally, directly elected mayors with most tax &…

@MayorJD @AndyBurnhamGM I voted no along with the majority in the NE when asked if we wanted a mayor. I thought it was just another layer of bureaucracy sucking up cash, but I believe Jamie could make a difference for our region like Burnham has done for Manchester.

@MayorJD @AndyBurnhamGM Absolutely and you’re absolutely right to stand and face him down ,you’re doing the north east and especially the Labour Party a service by making them wake up to the erosion of democracy and the rise of authoritarianism in the party

@MayorJD @AndyBurnhamGM Well said Jamie 👏 We need a strong local voice, for too long the only political voice has been Westminster, the faults of which are all too obvious.

@MayorJD @AndyBurnhamGM They're not furious with khan. Most in labour know it's BoJo policy, shapps specifically said it needs expanding for more funding. The end of the day only issue is people don't like the way the tories have spun it. Not a dislike for khan
