Wrestling is the best sport on earth. You wanna learn self-defense? Wrestling. Improve your diet and nutrition? Wrestling. Develop self-accountability, self-discipline, and an unrelenting work ethic? Wrestling. Become more mentally tough? Motivated? Mature? WRESTLING.
Women’s wrestling is the fastest growing high school sport in the country, and is growing rapidly at all levels. Not wanting to jump on board with that is lunacy. If you’re a wrestling fan in any capacity, support ALL wrestling.
10 years on the Senior level, 3 Olympic Trials, 16 Olympic Trials matches.
If today was my last time competing here, I have no regrets. I’m filled with so much gratitude to the sport that has shaped who I am today.
Nothing compares to the NCAA Wrestling Tournament. I've been to every major event in the world, including the Olympic and World Championships, and they don't hold a candle to the excitement and hype of NCAAs. I'm. So. Pumped.
As a female wrestler and advocate for women in sport...
There is nothing wrong with this. It’s a cool event highlighting two drastically different (but equally difficult) sports. They used a clever name to highlight the dichotomy. There are bigger battles to put energy into.
This is a *real*, *current* advertisement for a sporting event during which our women's

team ("The Beauty") competes concurrently next to the men's

team ("The Beast").

Alli just made her 6th straight world team. That’s incredible. Can we all take a minute to acknowledge how good of a feat that is, especially considering she’s 25 years old.
Putting my Fresno State Wrestling shirts in the same drawer as my Eastern Michigan Wrestling shirts and naming the drawer “For The Programs That Deserved Better”.
What a joke, dude. Up and coming program having almost immediate success gets the axe. It ain’t right.
Nick Gwiazdoswki: 3 straight world/Oly teams
J'den Cox: 4 straight teams
James Green: 5 in a row
Kyle Snyder: also 5
Jordan Burroughs: NINE DANG TEAMS IN A ROW🤯🤯🤯
My Mom: Why didn’t you go to NCAAs this year?
Me: I was wrestling at World Cup.
Mom: What World Cup?!
Me: The one in Japan..?
Mom: YOU WERE IN JAPAN?!
.... alrighty then.
In spite of Iowa’s team title, I still don’t think it can be argued that there’s another team in the country that consistently gets the best out of their guys in March than Penn State.
If there is one thing that has been PROVEN in the last 48 hours, it’s that the main cause for people not watching women’s wrestling is NOT because the majority think we are not entertaining from a technical aspect. It is primarily because WE ARE NOT COVERED. We are unfamiliar.
Why is everyone so worked up about Zain’s draw? Is it tough? Yeah. Does Zain care? Probably not. The athletes aren’t training in hopes they get an easy path to the semis and sneak into a medal match, they’re training to be the best in the world. Draws be damned.
I don’t want to take away from what was a truly impressive win, but for the second time in a week, DeSanto’s post-match antics have made me really, really uncomfortable.
If Helen repeats, I swear I will lose my ENTIRE mind. It’ll be gone. Poof.
Road to Gold

Regardless of how you feel about Willie, it’s crazy that Flo is taking legal measures to prevent him from covering wrestling for a year. Dude is just trying to do his job. He’s a wrestling journalist.
Mensah is also the the poster child for everything that is good and pure and fun. How she is in interviews is how she is in real life. If anything, her interview goofiness is scaled down from her normal self. Just a good all around human.
Some guy (a troll, undoubtedly) is seriously in my DMs trying to question what I know about WTTs/OTTs/Final X and attendance.
My dude, I have wrestled in 7 WTTs, 3 OTTs, and a Final X. Sit down.
Being a woman in this sport is exhausting sometimes, I swear.
Came up a little short in the semifinals tonight, but this was the 7th straight US Open/Senior Nationals that I’ve made it to the semis. I don’t mean to brag, but I’m pretty proud of that.
HEY
@Pink
! There are a bunch of awesome female wrestlers right across the street from the arena competing at the National Championships. 5 minute walk. Would be awesome if you came and inspired them to continue kicking ass.
Today I worked on moving my feet when I’m wrestling. It’s wild that you can be almost 13 years into a sport, and still need to work on something so simple. Fundamentals matter!
Like, yeah I was a 3x Fargo champ. But my biggest accomplishment in this place was jumping over the railing once without getting yelled at by Sandy Stevens.
Amid all this women’s wrestling stuff, true colors have been shown on both sides. I had two great phone calls today (almost out of the blue) with male coaches who are trying to push women’s wrestling and create positive change. Our male advocates are so valuable and appreciated!
To clarify for everyone, we have not yet officially earned Emerging Sport Status. It has just been RECOMMENDED to the NCAA by the CWA, but it’s a HUGE step in the right direction. There’s still a lot of work to do, keep doing your part to grow women’s collegiate wrestling!
No commentary on the livestream on either mat for the Women’s National Championships semifinals here in Fargo. Not even in the building. Classic

Helen Maroulis winning the first gold medal in women’s wrestling for Team USA, and beating the greatest female wrestler in history in the process.
Monumental.
Dude who cares about draws/seeds. Are we trying to win gold medals, or hoping for a good draw in hopes of sneaking into a bronze medal match? You have to beat everyone anyway. I guarantee you our competing athletes aren’t concerned with draws, they’re out there to win it all.
Honestly, letting women vote in this country wasn't one of the best ideas. Females vote with emotion and overwhelmingly support Democratic feel-good policies that take away our ACTUAL rights. I'd rather lose my "right" to vote than lose my right to defend myself with a firearm!
Today should have been the first day of Olympic Trials.
Instead, I woke up and ate an egg, cheese, and avocado burrito with a hash brown and blueberry espresso, and got right back in bed.
American exceptionalism when it comes to sports has an ugly side. We had two teams earn a silver medal today, and they’re being considered failures. Second in the WORLD is an accomplishment.
Our whole team is dealing with this and has showed up and showed out in spite of it. These ladies are freakin’ warriors. There’s Jordan’s flu game, and then there’s the U20 Women’s World Team performance this week.
Kennedy Blades had severe food poisoning at U20 Worlds. She was 6 kg under weight and went to the hospital after her loss in semis. Still came back to get bronze.
