What a day as a National Guard sponsored car on May 29th, 2011. J.R. Hildebrand enters turn 4 on the last lap as the leader, smacks the wall, loses the Indy 500. Dale Jr. enters turn 4 on the last lap of the leader, runs out of fuel, loses the Coca-Cola 600.

@ItsMichaelCarey This was a wild day. I remember being in the media center for the Coke 600, after watching the Indy 500. That was something.

@ItsMichaelCarey I remember this mostly for Dan Wheldon getting the win. He is the only winner of the Indy 500 to lead only 1 lap. Leading the last 1000 or so feet of the race

@ItsMichaelCarey It was a tough day. As one of the owners of Panther Racing, I watched JR take the white flag, on pit wall we were screaming we’re going to win the Indy 500! Then, no car appeared and I said “where’s the car?” we couldn’t see the wreck. JR kept his foot to the floor but Dan won.
