Tragedy at DreamWorks Animation.
Comcast/Universal is outsourcing basically everything and firing all in-house artists so they don’t have to deal with the animation union.
No leads are cut.
The artists left are being crunched to finish “The Wild Robot” over a month sooner.
Apparently there have been huge cuts going on at DreamWorks including my entire former department?? Part of a push to outsource everything and avoid dealing with the union?

And Comcast wants The Wild Robot done just before negotiations so that the union can’t use delaying the movie as leverage.

I wonder how French labour laws (spelled the European way for extra emphasis) work that they can't do the same to Illumination? Or maybe Nintendo's threatened to pull their license if they do the same...

Illumination likely has more protections because the studio is in France and is subject to French labor laws.

This is evil... legitimately.. Also how could they fire SEVENTY percent of their matte paint artists? The entire vibe of DreamWorks is about to be ruined.

Because matte painters in another country will do it for cheaper AND are not able to unionize as strongly as in the U.S.
