The joys of re-reading: I've just finished the first volume of Olivia Manning's Balkan Trilogy, written in the '60s, but set in Bucharest in 1939/40 as the War closes in. Hugely atmospheric, significantly underrated. The trilogy is available in one volume from Arrow. K

Fantastic news. I ended up reading it for the second time on kindle because I hate fighting with big omnibus editions. Love Olivia Manning.
