Remember when Pidge revealed herself as a girl? Yeah. I want to talk about that brilliant moment for a second. So the rest of the gang immediately accepts and reveals that they already knew (except Lance), which means they thought Pidge was a trans boy. It was that easy!
They’d been using he/him pronouns and referring to Pidge as a boy for the whole time they knew her, because that was how she was presenting and that was how she was requesting to be referenced. Team Voltron was 100% behind that.
And as soon as Pidge revealed that she was actually a girl, the team switched pronouns and phrasing immediately! “It’s been an honor flying with you boys” became “it’s been an honor flying with you all.” “He” became “she,” and everybody made the adjustment without judgement.
What I’m trying to say is that
@Voltron
did something brilliant. Team Voltron fully accepted and respected Pidge when they thought she was a trans man, and they fully accepted and respected Pidge when they found out she is female. And it was EASY.

When Pidge revealed herself as a girl, it made me realize that you can't give labels to everyone. It also helped me realize the I am non-binary. So now I'm more comfortable with myself as a person
@IBexWeBex
the way they accepted her immediately made me so happy when i first saw it & makes me even happier thinking about it this way! acceptance is so important, and u bet i'm so proud of my paladin kids for being so awesome and accepting uwu
@IBexWeBex
Tbh I thought Pidge was a trans boy when I first watched the show.
This interpretation does bring up some stuff tho, like with Coran’s “we were supposed to think you were a boy?” Doesn’t sound very accepting.
I liked Lance’s reaction the best because of this tho
@IBexWeBex
I will always adore how everyone treats Pidge the same after she tells them she’s a girl. No special treatment. Nothing. It’s why some peoples’ insistence that they can’t have women around in their profession because they’re “too distracting” is laughable.

@brighteststarus
As a trans masc person I had more negative feelings about the scene because to me it felt stilted and awkward like it was added in as censorship but I’ve slowly come around to it. Idk. Mixed feelings.
@IBexWeBex
I actually see Pidge like a trans girl. When I came out to my friends, they were like "we suspected that, we were waiting you to come out". Just like her. (and also I relate to the "bathroom problem" x') )
@IBexWeBex
hey bex! as a trans man, that scene made me and many others very uncomfortable. her being a trans girl would be worlds better, and trying to claim this as rep is kind of horrible.
