It is with heavy heart that the music world has received the news of soprano Jodie Devos' death to cancer, at the age of 35. She was a beautiful artist, vibrant and radiant of sound and presence, & I send my deepest condolences to her colleagues, her friends and to her family.
I am thrilled to announce this news: Barbara Hannigan appointed Chief Conductor and Artistic Director of the Iceland Symphony Orchestra
@IcelandSymphony

I am thrilled to be bringing one of my party pieces, the fantastic “Girl Crazy Suite" by Gershwin, arranged by Bill Elliott Music, to Musikkollegium Winterthur, starting the year on a high note!
The music world has lost two great musicians in
#MaurizioPollini
&
#PeterE
ötvös. I am eternally grateful to Maurizio Pollini for introducing me and so many others to the music of Luigi Nono, and to Peter Eötvös for the wonderful experiences of performing together over the years…
I was so happy to see that “The Berliner Philharmoniker perform Unsuk Chin” has recently been released!
In 2015, I performed Chin’s “Le silence des Sirènes,” in which I play a Siren 🧜🏻♀️ (a kind of Lorelei), who seems to have gone a bit mad, with
@BerlinPhil
& Sir Simon Rattle.
I am thrilled to accept this appointment, developing and performing beautiful and fascinating programmes with my colleagues at the LSO. This collaboration gives me a lot of energy and inspiration!
🔥🔥🔥
It's a great pleasure to announce that soprano and conductor
@HanniganBarbara
has been appointed as LSO Associate Artist for three years.

I am incredibly honoured to receive the 2020

I would deeply like to dedicate tonight’s performance of Mahler’s Symphony No. 4 and Haydn’s Symphony No. 44 “Trauer” to the victims of this horrible attack in Ukraine and to those who are so courageously defending their families and their country.
Have you heard of Schönberg’s “String Quartet No. 2 in F# minor with soprano”?
I will be singing this piece on January 7th with the members of the Musikkollegium Winterthur.
A few tickets are available via the link below!
Have you heard of Hildegard von Bingen?
She is the inspiration behind the show “Electric Fields” - a unique concert experience performed by me and pianists Katia and Marielle Labeque, with David Chalmin on live electronics.
So happy, relieved, grateful, exhilarated that our La Voix Humaine premiere happened and that it was recorded. Huge thanks to my team,

Delving into the sonic world of Olivier Messiaen’s vocal music continues to be a fulfilling journey. Recording the album MESSIAEN with pianist Bertrand Chamayou was an absolute joy.

I feel it is very important to encourage and support the next generation of artists…if you are currently studying or embarking on a career, here are three pieces of advice I hope helps you on your journey! ❤️
Learning John Zorn’s “Jumalattaret” was an epic journey that brought me to my limits mentally and musically.
This journey was captured by Mathieu Amalric in the film “Zorn III,” part of three of his films on the American composer and musician John Zorn.
“Electric Fields,” inspired by the life & music of Hildegard von Bingen, in upcoming performances at:
@MupaBudapest
, April 10
Zurich Tonhalle, April 13 & 15”4
Olivier Messiaen was fascinated and inspired by birdsong. 🪶He spent hours in the forest and in the countryside, notating their songs and often quoting them in compositions. Oiseaux Exotiques, for example, was a work which was using many direct birdsong quotes…
Singing and conducting Barber's Knoxville with the
@londonsymphony

Shout out to
@maxinekwokvln
from the 1st violins, with gratitude for lending me the gorgeous clothing!

@londonsymphony
. I’ve absolutely loved learning both the Barber and Varese, new works I've brought into my repertoire especially for this concert, can't wait to sing them for the 1st time!
Un de mes moments favoris de "La Voix Humaine", lorsqu'Elle suggère que le téléphone pourrait devenir une arme dangereuse... et j'ai alors un geste fou pour l'illustrer...!!!

concertmaster Ben Gilmore, & so sensitively accompanied by his colleagues.
I treasure the musical relationships that I have formed over the course of my career - including my decade-long collaboration with the Göteborgs Symfoniker, where I am Principal Guest Conductor.
After a week of rehearsals, and after this morning's dress rehearsal with

Working for the first time with Krysztof Warlikowski in 2012, on Lulu, changed my life. We have since made 5 productions together, and even with this "remount" of Lulu, it is a complete (re)creation coming from the centre of our artistic possibilities today. (1/2)
Passing on not only vocal/musical/technical guidance but also little bits of wisdom one picked up along the way is part of how we are spending our days here at the
