I keep saying this: as part of Citizenship Ceremonies new British Citizens are legally required to swear (or pledge) allegiance to the King. Itโs a legal requirement. None of them seem to mind. They are all excited to be British.

Mountbatten seems to forget that he serves at the pleasure of Parliament. Appealing directly over the head of Parliament is unconstitutional, like the US president demanding people pledge allegiance to him rather than the state. Unless Mountbatten believes โlโetat cโest moiโ
