Hah. Pull the wheel back for more front toe in (less front toe out). Might be a drag saving there / change in tire scrubbing. Also might change ride height a bit. Fascinating - stuff like this is the best part of F1.

#F1 #Mercedes latest trick on the straights: pulling steering wheel narrows front track width, decreases drag thus increases top speed πŸ“Ή

@GDubRacer My favorite thing about stuff like this in F1 is the 30 sources of speculation from people who have no vehicle dynamics knowledge. Haha

@TStrunk33 I’ve figured it out though... see Hamilton is really fast. And Einstein says β€œthe faster you go, the shorter you are”. Well Lewis is sooo fast that by the end of the straight he can now barely reach the wheel - so it’s all about ergonomics really.

@GDubRacer Also tyre management probably: more heat into tyres or let them cool down.

@GDubRacer Does this same thing work on their road cars? I’m going to try it today if I can get a mate to stand in front of me and watch the wheels as I drive towards him and pull the steering wheel.

@GDubRacer @hlawiczka Reminds me of the time McLaren had a 2nd brake pedal to aid cornering in 1998. F1 at it's best.
