The countries that some of our ancestors were taken from don’t exist anymore. Even a lot of those tribes were remixed into what we know now. But I’m black American. I can trace my ancestry back to the Gullahs on both sides. And I’m proud of that
Being in Ghana opened my eyes to who I was! Unless you are a Native American, your roots are NOT here and it’s perfectly natural and liberating to embrace that!

You're talking about countries when it's about tribes. We identify by tribe then country. Please don't limit yourself. It is important to know where you come from. Why are y'all so scared of being associated with the motherland? They won't send you back.😅

@MichaelJaiWhite
Well the tribes that are there now, weren’t there in the 1500’s. Like yourba for example. The word yourba wasn’t introduced until the 1800’s and they say it has some Arabic influence to the word. So what am I really connecting to?
@masharn_lewis
@MichaelJaiWhite
I’m not. I’m just saying that I have no connection to something that my ancestors haven’t been in for almost half a cent. Also, ethnically I’m not African. Idk what part of that y’all are not getting
@FlyNiggaMuseum
@MichaelJaiWhite
Where do Gullah traditions, words, and practices come from? You can trace indigo and rice production, songs, and dialect to a specific region on the African continent as well. Take that next step bro! The region didn’t disappear!

@MichaelJaiWhite
It became something totally different after being in the low lands. We had an ethno genesis here. The same way Romani Gypsies in the UK and USA are totally different than their ancestors in the Indian subcontinent.

@MichaelJaiWhite
He didnt say you shouldn't be proud of your Gullah heritage. He said it doesn't begin there

Historically speaking, none of your ancestors were taken from "countries" they were taken from regions and tribes, despite how hard the white man tried, I don't believe they ever succeeded in fully erasing any African tribe, so "your people" still do very much exist
@FlyNiggaMuseum
@MichaelJaiWhite
African still exist The Ghana Empire ruled by Mansa Musa still exist the name has changed to todays Mali The Ashanti kingdom still exist in Ghana okay
@FlyNiggaMuseum
@MichaelJaiWhite
You were taken from west Africa.. west Africa still exists, your tribe still exist. It’s not like they captured the whole tribe

@MichaelJaiWhite
Gullahs are quite literally the most connected with African culture out of the entire country though, they aren’t some Native American tribe man
