Do you think that people are too open on social media, sharing personal details? #WritingCommunity #socialmedia

@EveKoguce Sometimes. I think birthdays, precise location, photos of their children- are safer off the internet.

@Tess_2020 I agree with you, Tess. Besides, it seems confusing to me when people share details about their health.

@EveKoguce No, I believe everyone is entitled to share what they wish. Besides, I appreciate the raw reality of life. 😊

@CanadayVibez That's the purpose of social media after all. To bring people together.

@EveKoguce Yep. People have had their careers threatened for that reason. This account is mostly business-only. Posts like these are for future publishers and maybe people from various audio-visual media to get to know me.

@EveKoguce Yes, Eve, I definitely do! DM's are better for sharing personal info, but even then, be careful. People love to post vacation pics, but is it wise to advertise that you're not home? I think not! I used to investigate crimes like ID theft, so maybe I'm a bit cautious! πŸ’š

@Kellyrei007 Yes, Kelly, I totally agree with you. My husband is a lawyer and ex-cop, so, as you can imagine, we all are very cautious about such things as sharing our location on social media.

@EveKoguce Some people definitely are. It depends on the platform and if it's private for me on what to share. For instance, I won't share too much personal info on Twitter. But other platforms are private so I'm okay sharing photos/details.

@pacomontoya I don't think that anywhere on the Internet it's truly private. But it's always a wise thing to do to use some precaution measures.

@EveKoguce Yes, they are more open then we were warned against back in the early 00s. When I first started going online in the late 90s/early 00s era, they reminded us against giving out personal info including our real names. that rule flew out the window a decade later

@hhensell Yes, that's true. That era of nicknames has ended. And it's not a bad thing.

@EveKoguce Sometimes, depends on the privacy of the conversation and if it was solicited or not in my opinion.

@wolk_bruce True. There are many traps on the Internet and on social media.
