@theAliceRoberts @WelshGasDoc The irony is before COVID most private hospitals would not have survived without NHS patients being treated there. Sadly now they are booming with people self paying due to waiting times. We have failed our patients for the last 13+ years (labour and Conservative govs)

I can’t help thinking - all this cash being given to private healthcare companies to “help” the NHS - wouldn’t it much, much more efficient to give it directly to… the NHS. Where there are no shareholders taking profits?

@theAliceRoberts The private sector “helping” will cherry-pick the straightforward, low risk surgical cases… all the complex, higher risk stuff will still be the NHS’ problem…all this does is create a two-tier system based on health status, rather than bank balance. Typical short-term planning.

@WelshGasDoc And of course, it’s already happening. So there’s no big change for the public to see on the surface of it - just more and more ISTCs cherry-picking the easiest patients and not even fulfilling their quotas…
