There is a deafening silence in the Viking community as Randy Jones, the Voice of the Vikings on WRVS-FM 89.9, passed away. He was a 1996 graduate of ECSU with a degree in physical education and health. Our thoughts and prayers go out to his family and friends.

Senate Bill 105 includes over $100 million in funding for ECSU over the coming years. Also included is $40 million for a new residence hall, $34 million for aviation science, $7.5 million for a new dining hall and $2.5 million for a skybridge on Weeksville and Herrington Rd.

Two new bands top the HBCU Band Rankings: Tennessee State and Elizabeth City State
128 years ago, on March 3, 1891, Hugh Cale, an African-American representative in the N.C. General Assembly from Pasquotank County, sponsored House Bill 383, establishing what was then called Elizabeth City State Colored Normal School (1891-1939).

Celeste Trahan-Davis, the first woman in Division II history to wrap up her career with than 2,000 points and 1,500 rebounds. Her No. 00 jersey hangs in the rafters at the R.L. Vaughan Center and is the only woman's number to be retired by the school.
