If you're an aspiring artist working to get into film, tv, comics or games try not to let noise around layoffs, work conditions or AI scare you away. The industry has problems, the economy is struggling, but there's still so many pushing to create a better environment. 1/3
People will always want to see art that moves & inspires them. They might not understand the thoughts, emotions, effort or process that goes on behind it, but know there will always be a place for talented artists & their ability to visually express ideas & stories. 2/3
It's important new talent grows. Without artists the world is a dull blank canvas. Humanity was founded on our ability to tell stories & communicate. Art is a way to visually express uniquely lived experiences & a culmination of aquired knowledge & observation. 3/3

but like, it all seems to be going in a weird direction, and studios are embracing AI, even though it looks terrible ... I used to have a clear idea of where I wanted to be, but lately , not so much. The amount of opportunities seems to be getting smaller.
@jordananimate
Yes & no. Studio lawyers are well aware of the legal minefield of gen AI. It's going to depend on government. As for opportunities, I'd argue we've never had so many. While many companies are downscaling, the world craves entertainment & new places are constantly popping up.
@EZE3D
or how about this- fuck the industry and just do your own thing. industry jobs are only one way to be able to earn a sustainable living off of your artistic medium of choice, there are more options than ever to be able to independently distribute and fund your own original works
@WALLIMOG
Easier said than done for many. Like you said industry jobs are only one way. Going indy is always an option, but it's not something everyone might want. My partner & many friends are indy, I've seen their struggles. Usually a good foundation of experience & a network helped.

@EZE3D
Thank you for these kind words, really. I've been desperate to find a job lately because I really need some sort of income, but every time I'm not selected. I find it genuinely hard to get people to trust me to do the job and it has been ruining my spirit.
@kiyoudaya
It's unfortunatly normal, even for very experienced artists. Apply to as many places as possible & use rejections & interviews as opportunities to grow. A lot comes down to luck & timing. You want to be there and ready with your portfolio when the timing is perfect.
@EZE3D
Thanks for this Eric! I'm still currently on the fence right now about being a professional artist, but I think I'll continue training and having fun drawing for now. Ugh drawing's so hard.
@EZE3D
You have to push no matter what for anything to happen to begin with. It's unfortunate but these seem to be the growing pains in this wierd future
