A list of military equipment left behind includes combat aircraft, infantry weapons and ammo, armored vehicles all in great numbers. It is a formidable inventory that is more likely to be trafficked than sold to responsible countries. Very destabilizing. Precision bombing urgent.
@ELuttwak
Can’t bomb until everyone is out or the Taliban will use them as ‘retribution’. Taliban hold all the cards right now, and there’s no reason to believe they’ll let all their assets go
@ELuttwak
No Ed. No more bombing. You know better than this. In the 90's the US offered a buy back program for Stinger missiles supplied to the Mujahideen against the Soviets. Something similar should be done here if there is serious concern about weapon systems falling into wrong hands.

@ELuttwak
We as a force struggle keeping our equipment fully operational due to maintenance demands..... I doubt the taliban will be able to keep this equipment fully operational for long.
@ELuttwak
That's mostly untrue. Aircraft and armored vehicles are not in large numbers and won't be operational for long. There's a lot of Humvees, trucks, small arms and ammo. The vehicles are fewer than what IS captured in 2014 & will attrit steadily. Only the small arms will linger.
@ELuttwak
It's done on purpose, probably to hand the weapons over to ISIS-K as they have done similar things all over the Middle East in the past, including in Iraq
@ELuttwak
That was the whole purpose of this apparently "chaotic" withdrawal of USA from Afghanistan - to arm the Taliban AND Pakistan to wage war against India for Kashmir, without requiring Congressional approval or funds.
And to source new equipment from MIC for US military. More $$$$.
@ELuttwak
Somewhere somehow something went missing?
NO - It’s part of the Scheme!
