Listen to Drs/Nurses etc - not Media Dr since 1989, GP since 1993 140,000+ consults with people of all ages & backgrounds Mentored & helped train 60 GPs Ran a GP Practice 27yrs I think that gives me some knowledge of what might work in the #NHS #GPCrisis Blame MPs not GPs

Rishi Sunak has decided that the £14.9bn of PPE fraud cannot be investigated & has written it all off This is the same amount of money as the entire budget for General Practice & Primary care for a year Imagine writing off 330million consultations, GPs, Nurses etc for a year

You will miss GPs when they are gone BUPA advert below £140 for 30 min Currently you pay £163/year via Taxes for your GP services (it’s not enough) Govt/NHSE have increased this be £3 this year - 2% Average number of appts/year is 7 but many have more Can’t see a GP - blame MPs

When I was a Junior Dr, there was a Drs Mess, unlimited drinks, toast, biscuits, parking & I had a room to sleep in, all for free I was paid £19k/year which enabled me to buy a house for £63k. £19k is equivalent to £40k today Sadly the house I bought is now worth £350,000

Blaming GPs for not enough appts is like blaming the only worker on the till at Tesco for your wait, for all the other empty tills, & telling them to work 24/7 1.4m consult GPs every day 1896 fewer GPs since 2015 Some chose to work ‘part-time’ due to 12hr days🤷🏻 #GPCrisis

WORKFORCE I have trained over 60 GPs & many more medical students What do I know? Well I know you can’t shortcut training, you can’t rely on good training to retain staff. You have to care for people, reward people for their work, dedication but you can’t force them to stay

NHS vs Private health? I was quoted £2000/year - OK I’m 57 - but I’m fit & no big issues, but they wouldn’t be covered & I’d be sent off to NHS for these NHS funding is £3400/year/person with everyone & everything covered The NHS is everyone’s insurance even if you go private

@Nurseborisbash So very hard for you, it reminds me of the worse part of the early pandemic when Drs & Nurses were crying out for PPE. When we got it it was awful initially & then so many exploited the PPE VIP lanes at everyone’s expense. Cold, heartless & greedy.

@DeborahMeaden The ring fenced budget for Covid was included in NHS budget as was Track and Trace, unused private hospital provision. You will actually see a drop in NHS budgets excluding these funds Then look at disposals - taken from DHSS accounts

Extremely grateful for the NHS, working in it for 34yrs but more importantly as a patient Without it I would have had huge bill today I will continue to share facts & hold the Govt/NHSE to account because we will all need care at some point & you never know when it will be you

£1 a week That’s the average cost to each UK resident of a pay increase for NHS Drs & other staff, to keep them in the NHS, & appreciate their added value to all of us That’s what the Government has been saying is unacceptable & unaffordable on our behalf

Woman, 55, from High Wycombe prosecuted for not paying her TV Licence - In debt - Using food banks - Can't afford heating - On benefits - Mental health issues Says she tried to set up a payment plan but was told "you can't, it's too late". Convicted and ordered to pay £116.

This is the queue to register with an NHS Dentist 2024, in 1990s 93% of dentists worked for the NHS. Govt cut funding, made the contract harder & Dentistry became 75% private 2024 - 93% of GPs are NHS Govt is cutting funding & GPs are leaving GP Future👇🏼

UK IS DYING UK has seen an increase in avoidable deaths & fall in life expectancy Link to Govt austerity is particularly clear when comparisons are made with peer nations, the NHS has been under resourced, leading to poorer outcomes We’re earning less compared with peers too!

LAST YEAR 12 MILLION HOSPITAL CANCELLATIONS NOT DUE TO STRIKES 230,000 every week, double what it was 10years ago Doctors at fault for all those cancelled appts? No it was Govt - under funding, reduced bed capacity, NHS leadership Then blame Drs whilst failing to resolve pay

Hang on I think that there’s been a GP plan before … 2012 Andrew Lansley 2014 Five Year Forward (Now 4 years backward 🤔) 2019 Long term plan & people plan Problem without GP RETENTION none of them work

The last time the Government decided to create some extra beds they built Nightingale Hospitals cost & lost £500m They forgot about staffing them, only 300 admissions occurred Longer term planning is essential including permanent staff, not just winter

Just heard @RishiSunak tell @BBCHughPym that there are record number of GPs Well perhaps he meant a record of lowering numbers We actually now have the equivalent of 1,896 fewer fully qualified full-time GPs compared to Sept 2015 #GPCrisis Blame MPs not GPs @BMA_GP @DAUK_GP

RAPID ACCESS CHEST PAIN CLINICs Yesterday referring a person for an assessment of suspected angina - best locally 47 weeks - best nationally 15 weeks (200 miles away) This was & should be 2 weeks, impossible/unsafe for patients & GPs This Government is responsible for deaths
