Could not agree more 👇 I am grandfathered for Int Med, but not Cardiology or Cardiac EP. The whole MOC thing was, and always will be, just about the money. $2.3 million condos, Cayman Island spending, spousal travel fees, and (esp) politics are expensive. We paid for all of it.

@doctorwes It’s those of us who were on the tip of this extortion spear, who knew it couldn’t *possibly* be about “patient safety” if grandfathering was to exist, who need to loudly call MOC out for what it is. These boards found a foolproof way to make gobs of money. We cannot let them.

Had dinner with a 4th yr med student this weekend. Smart as hell. Knew all about MOC controversy. Finishing sub-intern rotation before applying for match by 27Sep. Doing suck-up thing to get ahead. Nothing would make me prouder than ending MOC for them.

Learned this AM that @ABIMCert has done their annual "certification audit" 1 Apr and contacted hospitals to notify them of doctors that are no longer "certified" because their #MOC points lapsed. To those docs, welcome to the fight:

Now THIS is interesting. Especially since I am grandfathered in Internal Medicine, and had a valid cert until 2024 for cardiac EP. Suddenly, this org says I can no longer practice or bill at my hospital. Guess my hospital has to fire me. To my patients: I tried to end this.

@AaronGoodman33 ABIM is an absolute disgrace and embarrassment. CME is more than enough. Until they have data that can definitively prove board certified physicians are somehow superior, they should cease any and all MOC requirements. Where is hospital leadership?
