My dad was a sign writer by trade, the plastic signs that start appearing in the 80s saddened him not because he was losing work but the signs themselves looked awful

I have always loved sign writing (my mum was a visual artist / printmaker), so I can relate. Plastic signs, no taste in fonts, and LEDs are the scourge of modern retail.

The owners live above the post office. There was an ECO programme on RTE which featured them.

Went in to that Post Office last week pity not more left like it instead of all the characterless ones that we have now.

Our local chipper bought over the original post office in the village and renamed it Ofig an Chip would of loved to have a photo to share

I worked in an office on Merchant’s Quay in early 90’s and used that Post Office regularly, v nice people ran the shop and PO desk..

mentions that 's apparently the only shopfront in the City with old Irish font for the mai sign. Or one of very few. Its a lovely shopfront still, and your pic is really nice.
