I said at the end of Grey Cup week we should consider every possible change. We have considered the possibility of 4 downs enough. Scott is right, it's a very bad idea. #CFL

Offensive coaches aren't stupid, you give them 4 downs on a 65 yard wide field they will be comfortable running and screening the ball for 3 yards a pop every play. I'm not sure that people who want the CFL to adopt 4 downs have thought this through πŸ€”, but hey what do I know.

@Dave_CHED Law of averages. It would increase offense. Would you rather have three tries to get ten yards or two?

@Dave_CHED I’m a 55-year fan and a 35-year season ticket holder. Go to four downs and the CFL is NFL-lite. I have absolutely no interest in NFL-lite. I’m very forgiving but I’d never forgive this move.

@Dave_CHED If we go to 4 downs in the CFL then I might as well watch NFL. Tell Randy to leave our game alone

@Dave_CHED CFL is unique and will be another dead NFL feeder if you change anything. Field, Downs, position of our goal posts (NFL's are at the back), number of players, etc. Our game!!!

@Dave_CHED @TheTurfDistrict Not that I am advocating for 4 downs in the CFL. Wanted to point out that CEGEP and leagues in Ontario have been playing 4 down, 12 man football for years. It hasn't "ruined" the game and turned it into a run based league.

@Dave_CHED One of the reasons the CFL is where it is now is because they’ve listened to their Fans and have stood pat...ish hasn’t gotten better. Maybe 4 downs isn’t the answer but they MUST tune Fans out risk failure. Challenges and changing ball were 2 things that Fans didn’t want either!

@Dave_CHED Two screen plays and/or short yardage dumps would make for amazing football! (SARCASM) sure we have more special teams than other leagues but that's one of the reasons we love it! Don't make us protest at our respective legislatures!! Lmao I'll honk my horn excessively!! 😁😁😁

@Dave_CHED CFL refereeing often gives the teams a 40 sec play lock instead of placing the ball and blowing the whistle within the 20 sec which is the rule , 4 downs would be exciting if it was an actual 20

@Dave_CHED QB play wasn't very good last year. If the QBs who had off years start playing better, we won't need 4 downs

@Dave_CHED The CFL is unique. The rules of the CFL make it unique. Going to four downs will kill the CFL.

@Dave_CHED Odd that in the "glory days" these questions were never asked. Why now? Because of the effect of NFL marketing and hype. Stupid, ridiculous reason to tinker with a great game, which simply had a bit of an "off year". No one asked these questions when Moon and Flutie were throwing

@Dave_CHED 4 downs is only the beginning. Next probably be shorting the end zones to have more seating or go to a 100 yard field, etc until our game would fit their NFL model
