@DaniaFrancis This is very good and exciting! I do think it overemphasizes the pipeline dimension of exclusion of blacks from departmental appointments relative to the overt and covert discriminatory practices of econ departments. More on discriminatory practices by Econ journals would help.

@DaniaFrancis Never having been privy to one of those events, I can’t say anything about them. But I’m certain that others in the world of Econ Twitter can comment on this dimension of monopoly power in the profession.

@DaniaFrancis Hard as it is to fully desegregate student bodies at PWIs, its much harder to desegregate faculty, especially in economics.

@DaniaFrancis @SandyDarity NBER has invited alumni of the AEA Summer program to the Summer Institute over the years. I went that way my first time. I recently brought this up but not sure it is ongoing. That is different from actually getting on the program. But anyone can submit a paper to NBER SI, AFAIK
