My wife telephoned her doctors surgery yesterday to see a GP. She was told and I quote “you can only have an appointment if it’s life or death”! How does a receptionist decide that, and if it’s life or death should it not be an ambulance? What the fcuk are GPs doing?

@CromwellStuff Tell them you want to make an official complaint; you want a meeting with the manager. I've been a receptionist. Basically, the GPs are telling receptionists to keep the list low. Although some receptionists the power goes to their heads.

@CromwellStuff Hence the reason a&e is full. Hence the reason more will die of cancer and other medical conditions because of late diagnosis.🙄

@CromwellStuff In 2018 when folk were warned not to visit doctors with flu, a receptionist arranged a sick line for me having flu (all done over the phone) - 2 days later I was in a coma and came so close to death that the consultant in ITU in the 1st hospital I was in actually came into work

@CromwellStuff Won't be long before they'll be private gp practices where you pay to see gp or monthly subscriptions like private dentists do. Might not be yet but it's coming I'm sure.

@CromwellStuff Similar experience with my aging parents GP - sadly totally useless which casts a dark shadow over good GP of which, no doubt there are many.

@CromwellStuff GPs behind closed doors is how it was, we’ve been told most problems will be dealt with by our local pharmacist. If pharmacists understood people they would be doctors.

@CromwellStuff We're basically on our own where our health is concerned unless we've got money to pay. The NHS is a total disaster. The Channel immigrants get better medical attention than the general UK public.

@CromwellStuff They're making money, which the government and the WHO are incentivising them to do. Too many GPs are only interested in lining their own pockets!

@CromwellStuff GP's run independently of government (thank Blair) - in 2020 they empowered the receptionists with Total Triage. You have to tell them & they decide what to do. It's insanity. Local gossips & women with no medical knowledge whatsoever deciding your medical treatment. Call 111.
