On December 11, Oleksiy Reznikov and Paul Jonson visited the Mykolaiv Shipyard, and also got acquainted with the objects of Mykolaiv infrastructure damaged as a result of Russian attacks.
Here it is in historic satellite imagery in Google Earth.
This ship, 'Ukraina' (formerly 'Komsomolets' and before that 'Flota Lobov'), is unfinished and unserviceable
@CovertShores
I found her on Google maps. There are some “street view” spots on the ship that you can look at. The ones I look at were on the bow and were taken in 2016. From the look of it there must have been a tour or something going on, there were a bunch of other people in the shot.
@CovertShores
The fate of this missile cruiser could not be decided for decades. The best option is to take the useful equipment and weapons, and finally cut the hull for metal. The cruiser has OSA and Ak-630. They were planned to be used as replacements or spare parts for other our ships
@CovertShores
It'd be one heck of a flex if Ukraine finished and commissioned her once this is all said and done.
An impractical, expensive, and probably inadvisable flex, but a flex none the less.
@CovertShores
Can be restored at Turkey. It can be redesigned above the hull.Sand blasting all around,New operations room new radars sensors electronics battle and ship management systems. It is a good and thick hull and it seems it has been anti rust painted.Forget about the gun barrels.
@CovertShores
Russkiess won't be able to manufacture anything larger than a corvette.. oh wait!!.. they never did. Ukrainians always made the Cruisers ,Battleships and even aircraft carriers for them🐶(..subtle facts)
