What is the *most disturbing* tornado to you personally? You can give a reason why, but you do not have to if you are not comfortable. I have my choices, and reasons for them:
-Hackleburg 2011
-Piedmont 2011
-Jarrell TX 1997
-Rainsville 2011
Just keep it respectful
Ok I’m irritated because these risks keep kinda underperforming (which is a good thing) but it’s making me worried for when one *doesn’t*. I’m scared we are gonna have major “Cry-Wolf” effect; people aren’t going to take an MDT seriously anymore, and are going to get hurt
Lord I just found this picture of the 4/27/2011 Rainsville EF5 that I’ve never seen before
It’s also known as the Fyffe AL EF5, which I did not know. This image captures fear in its purest form; a looming beast
I hope that someone posts credit, as idk who took this
I’ve noticed this particular feature on quite a large number of violent/significant tornadoes; what is this? Does it have a name? Has it ever been studied?
Tors in order:
-Rainsville 2011
-Tuscaloosa 2011
-Ashby 2020
-Enterprise 2011
Ignore how a lot are from 4/27/2011
A 60% tor has only been issued ONCE (to my knowledge)
In 2006
Do you think we will see a second in 2024 (no)
Although… nothing is out of the realm of possibility
Yea this is extremely bad
Guys Matador is gone, I’m not exaggerating, this is an extremely bad situation and they going to need every last bit of help possible. Please pray or do whatever you feel like you can do, just don’t go if your not a professional in the area
It’s Halloween eve!!! 🌪️ So, what is the scariest looking tornadoes in you opinion?(rating doesn’t matter here) For me, it’s either the Rainsville EF5, Canton Lake EF3, or the Hallam NE EF4 (in order, all images from Google!)
Jarrell is also a horrific menace
Ok I’ve been hyperfixiated on school (haha missing work…) and the eclipse:
Why is there a Moderate risk with a 15% tor again? I get the 45% wind; based off what I saw, there’s an extra windy squall on HRRR— but idk about that 15% hatched tor?
Holy frick the Bridge collapse really has lead me into a rabbit hole of how doomed our society is and the general decline of critical thinking. Like.. NOT EVERYTHING IS A CONSPIRACY; WAIT FOR OFFICIAL REPORTS. NOT EVERY EXPLOSION IS A “controlled detonation”.
What has happened??
Echo tops of 60,000+ on the Matador TX tornado producer
That is simply the tallest storm I’ve ever personally seen on radar, showing how just STRONG this thing is
Absolutely a terrifying beast. This is something you study
@Thezoosexual
@FBI
Animal abusers in the likes btw
Hopefully y’all get arrested someday; animals CANT GIVE CONSENT WORD FOR WORD, IN HUMAN LANGUAGE. STOP PRETENDING THEY CAN, YALL ARE ABUSERS, STOP HIDING
I just met a guy who knew about the 1997 Jarrell TX F5
Lets just say, I honestly don’t want to post the story he told me….
I will if y’all ask, but it’s gory.
I wonder what would theoretically happen if this actually verified
Thank God it didn’t, but part of me always wonders what would of happened?
(This is the May 20th High-that-never-was for anyone who doesn’t know)
Today was just a pain in the butt
-wasn’t fun for chasers
-wasn’t fun got trackers
-wasn’t fun for people experiencing it
-wasn’t fun for the NWS (New Orleans had to take shelter!)
No good structure, tornadoes were rain wrapped, windy as all get out:
Preformed as expected.
@ReedTimmerAccu
It actually baffles me how this wasn’t canceled in the first place…
People REALLY need to start paying attention to weather more frequently…
I’m trying to write down a devastating tornado (E/F 4-5s) for every letter of the alphabet, I’m missing a few
Anyone have suggestions for towns impacted that start with:
D
I
N
O
Q
S
W
Y
Z
Im sure im forgetting a lot of tornadoes :|
What does WX-Twitter listen to? List your favorite artists/bands by quoting this! (I’m genuinely curious here)
For myself:
-The Smiths
-The Police
-Tears for Fears
-A-Ha
-Cosmo Sheldrake
-The Who
Someone once described the Hackleburg tornado as: “The Fist of God”.
That, in my opinion; is the best description of this tornado I’ve ever heard. (Religious beliefs aside—don’t feel like fighting)
I believe in the comment section of the video this screenshot is from.
If I see someone get killed in a nighttime QLCS EF2+ tomorrow I will be mad. Seriously, tomorrow isn’t safe, if you chase irresponsibly you might get very hurt or worse. A QLCS is a semi unpredictable beast, I saw two QLCS tornadoes come out of nowhere with my own eyes
Today:
-Mayfield historical flood
-sudden MCV EF3 possibly causes massive effects in the medical system
-Ryan Hall… situation
-Roblox outage outbreak
-situation mystery still ongoing
History
I’m heading home, but I had an absolutely phenomenal time at the
#NSCS24
I met so many kind and wonderful people, I talked with Reed Timmer, Pecos Hank, and genuinely so many others (i appreciate all of you!)
I’m incredibly excited for the 2024 tornado, I think will be great!
Insane NAM sounding from the KS/OK border (to the west) at 23Z
Just WILD
That LL moisture and instability just screams: “WEE-WOO-WEE-WOO” to me. It is just highly favorable for tornadogenesis, plus, the amount of SRH (about 600) will absolutely assist with that.
MY VOICE SOUNDS LIKE A GUY!! WHY HAVENT I REALIZED THIS?!
HELP
IM NOT A GUY 😭😭😭😭
I PROMISE IM ACTUALLY A GIRL, I just don’t post it because it doesn’t really matter to me!! BUT IT TURNS OUT, I STRAIGHT KINDA SOUND LIKE A DUDE
Dude the reviews on the Winchester IN Taco Bell are insane (don’t hate on anyone please, no one needs that).
Do I think it’s morbid? Yes. Do I think it’s funny? Absolutely yes.
I feel like this is pretty ok to do, as long as you keep it civil, and don’t joke about death/injuries
D6 risk…
Can’t say I’ve seen a outlined risk area this far out since April I believe? This is due to a potent trough ejection heading into the southern US with a surprising amount of consistently
Please watch this one closely
I met
@PecosHank
I didn’t take a picture because I get awkward about asking that, but I had a good talk with him :)
Hopefully we’ll see some photogenic tors in May!!
I think 4/1 has been rather overhyped.
Lacking LL winds crippled the tornado risk, an overall waste of a huge warm sector as the ejection doesn’t get too strong within it, and it honestly looks like a pretty boring hail/wind risk. The wind risk might not get fully materialized
We need some positivity: I know sad and upsetting things will, and do happen; but I’m going to try and offset some of that.
So heres some incredible DOW data that was given to me recently from Bridgecreek 1999
Thx
@DOWFacility
for the work y’all do, hope to see you out this year
Dang bro why did this Friday go so bad
From Ashton truly pulling a goofball move (I respect you Ashton, but that could’ve been handled better by you, I know you can)
To an ISIS terrorist attack
To a tragic bus crash in TX that had a child fatality
Like can we turn this around
Never will forget seeing Little Rock AR have a massive, violent wedge swing right though it, I just was shocked. The whole outbreak was just “are you serious!? This can’t be happening”
But is was happening before our very eyes, now basically tied in 3rd for the most tors in a day
*WIP*
Does anyone have any recommendations for this? I’m finally getting on to *entirely remaking* the 2004 Tempest Tours tornado type chart; with some tornado types removed, and some added (such as Mega-wedge). Trying to make it have the spirit of the OG, but still original!
This absolutely hit something, and a lot of it
It’s now fallout (based on velocity), but we might see something really bad in the morning in Grand Blanc, if things went very wrong
Hey seriously tho; even if the movie isn’t good, it’ll still put weather back on the big screen
Which will key more attention on Chasers, Mets., The NWS, and even weather in general. This is our shot at a “second renaissance” of weather science. Imagine the funding?
UPDATE: An NWS Indianapolis survey team has confirmed a tornado with a preliminary damage rating of EF3 in Winchester. The team continues to survey damage and additional information will be forthcoming this evening.

Y’all are too nice
Like I’ve never been in a more welcoming and dedicated group of people as WX-twitter, despite all the “drama”, this community is still incredibly seeped in passion and love. Thank you to all the endless people giving me praise (which by no means did I expect)
The 5/31/13 El Reno supercell with a 2.6 mile wide tornado on the ground (I believe at the time of this scan) in my newest BR table
(I’ll post it in the replies if someone asks)
Genuinely terrifying knowing the horror it created
If we joke around about the Taco Bell in Winchester IN; I feel we should also be ready and able to support them
Does anyone know of any places where I (or anybody) can donate to Winchester, with the security that it is going to the town instead of lining someone’s pockets?
Smoke from the 9/11/2001 attacks by the KOKX radar (New York)
Very haunting; I was curious to see if it was actually possible to see it, in which it is
OK JUST A WARNING:
this year’s tick season is going to be AWFUL.
I sit outside to eat lunch, like everyday (even if it’s raining). Today, I SAT IN A NEST OF BABY TICKS. I WAS (maybe still am) COVERED IN THE LITTLE PISS BABIES. Whhhhyyyyyyy
Sorry but tornadoes that go for 2+ hours scare the hell out of me
Like HOW and WHY are you still going??!!!?
Just… eerreeerreeeer…. Scary man.
I’ve yet to track one(they are insanely rare) but man, I’m scared for when we have another.
