Politics + journalism 🍿🤾♀️ Founder of Hilma’s Network, recruiting liberal-minded women. Host of The Clock🎧celebrating all the paths women take in their 30s
No disrespect to Sunrise and their new promo, but is there a single family that looks like this while eating breakfast? Especially in 2020? Why aren’t the parents at work? Why is everyone wearing white? Why aren’t the siblings fighting? Why is no one crying? Where are the phones?
I’ve covered 5 stories in a fortnight where NRL players have been charged with assaulting women. I’m repulsed that this is 2018 and this is what young boys and girls are looking up to as role models. There IS a cultural problem, whatever they’re doing to fix it isn’t working.
For the record, I am really bloody over the Sydney vs Melbourne war. I hope things improve for both states as fast as possible because lives on the line. It is not a state of origin game.
Just out here doing my job, covering the climate strike rally in Sydney. A demonstrator comes up to me and asks who I work for so I told her. She replied “I hope you can never have children.” Very inclusive. Very woke. Very kind.
Literally every person I know in Vic is looking to relocate to a different state as soon as borders reopen. They’re terrified they’ll be in lockdown again if there’s another wave - which is in no way out of the question. A mass exodus would have huge ramifications on other states
After six years at Sky News, I have decided to embark on a new adventure. Thank you to everyone who has let me tell their stories over the years, I have some truly fantastic memories!
Minutes away from jab 2! The vibe inside vaccine clinics is electric. It’s the most uplifting collective mood I’ve experienced in months. Woo! People power!
Yesterday, on IWD, the NSW Liberal Party voted on our state executive. We didn't get a SINGLE woman up.
We now have: a male federal leader. A male NSW leader. A male NSW Director. A male NSW president. And FOUR male Vice Presidents.
I know covid is real, I know it’s dangerous and needs to be taken seriously. But people are more scared of the restrictions than the virus. I’ve hardly heard anyone talking about being nervous of catching it, just nervous of how their lives will be impacted.
At approximately 630am this morning I went to grab my mic from the camera bag and there was a gigantic dirty rat in there. It was dark and raining and I was alone in (the key battleground seat of) Warringah and I won’t ever recover.
Never forget being able to work from home is a luxury. Thanks to all those who continue to go out into potentially dangerous settings to keep us all fed and society running.
If Israel Folau is seeking compensation for missing out on a POSSIBLE captaincny and a POSSIBLE World Cup trophy, I am suing my parents for not allowing me to be an actress when I could have POSSIBLY been better than Julia Roberts and POSSIBLY won an Oscar.

Has Australia ever had to cancel something as prominent as the Commonwealth Games before because a state hasn’t been able to afford it?! This is mortifying. It seems so incompetent and lets so many people/businesses/athletes and regions down. Mortifying.
Bit of a long one this morning.
You might have heard the news this morning that Victoria will no longer be hosting the 2026 Commonwealth Games.
And I wanted to tell you about the decision.
My 5 month old puppy Wally picked up a dummy off the ground on our walk. And it has resulted in some of the most offensively cute material I’ve ever seen. Happy Sunday.
I just received this chilling video... A mass grave site being built in Indonesia amid a COVID19 surge. Ambulances lining up to deliver the dead, excavators opening up more graves, the city filled with sirens. Aus will send 2.5 million AZ jabs their way this year. Get vaxxed.
Media friends, can we get on the same page with covid reporting? I think it’s confusing to the public when we say “10 new cases” when that INCLUDES tomorrow’s and EXCLUDES some from yesterday?! Shouldn’t it just be 5 because that’s in the 24 hour period? We need to be consistent.
I’ve found today really hard and really awful. But this photo actually breaks my heart. What the hell have we become? How on earth are we here. It’s terrifying
Just told my partner that we should not drink at all this week in preparation for the 58956 sundays ahead that will be write offs after lockdown ends. He argued we should drink MORE this week to ensure we’re piss fit…I mean…..
At Hong Kong airport. Australians sticking out like sore thumbs (more than usual) bc they’re the only ones not wearing masks. Classic australian attitude.
Instead of pulling down statues/shows, why don’t we add plaques/disclaimers providing more details and context? Some of these people have achieved great things and carried out awful atrocities. It isn’t always one or the other. We can add to history without abolishing it.
Hahahaha. What is she DOING?! She is 50+ and should be having AZ! Annastacia is handling vaccine promotion almost as shockingly as her border closure policy. Unbelievable.
Scomo going on holidays didn’t anger me as much as David Elliott still being away. We have a mass exodus with every emergency service in the state assisting and working around the clock. This is literally your responsibility, your job. Disgraceful. Unforgivable.
Hmm the two biggest cities in Australia in lockdown… if only we had abundant supply of a perfectly good vaccine used all over the world with the same risk of dying as being struck by lightening. Oh and it could be made on home soil! If…only…

At my local body of water yesterday I noticed quite a few of you used lockdown to slim down, not triple you consumption…What’s with that? I thought we were all in this together?
You know what should be illegal? Playing music on speakers at the beach. I came here to relax. Not to listen to your crappy trendy beats blasting. I can’t opt out.
Scusie to all media outlets doing Facebook live-streams. It is not “
#BREAKING
” that the prime minister is simply speaking. That’s an “ALERT”. Let’s save our precious hashtag for actual news, okie?
Just sought clarity from Nsw Health who have confirmed anyone who has live or worked in one of the 4 LGAs in the last TWO WEEKS will be subject to the stay at home order.
I’m betting Annastacia will open the border on Oct 20ish. She’d get to do a big PR stunt saying AFL fans can come in for grand final and spin economic opportunity, appease voters who want borders open AND there’s little risk an outbreak could take off before oct 31 election.
If you’re at home and feeling a bit sad and scared this NYE and a little helpless about the bushfires, it’s time to book a holiday... the NSW south coast is dependent on tourism and we need to support these little villages to get back on their feet when the fires are over
New conspiracy theory: dogs invented coronavirus so their humans would have stay home with them all day and insist on taking them on many walks because it’s the only time they go outside. Ta da.
Not a good case number in Vic today
Hoping - cos of vax rate - we can do a bit better that the 62K cases in NSW
vs 29K cases in Vic, so far this year
403 deaths in NSW vs 75 deaths in Vic
NSW had more than 1000 pple in hospital for almost all of Sept
Hope we don’t get there
I just asked my boyfriend when am I allowed to get a cat. And he said “I’ll have to see the modeling first. We need to weigh up the risks and benefits. I certainly won’t be bullied into it, these are tough decisions.”🥴
No one ever thanks politicians. And I have no doubt every one of them is getting next to no sleep and trying their best. The stakes are high and I know some mistakes will be made but I’m really grateful for the hard work from all politicians, from all parties.
Deputy Prime Minister Michael McCormack on QLD border: “Appreciate that qld has an election on october 31 and low and behond opening the borders the very next day. Some might say that's not a coincidence, it is a poltical decision taken by Annastacia Palaszczuk.”
@SkyNewsAust
It’s pretty weird when ppl under 40 post a super proud selfie after their Pfizer jab when you know they aren’t eligible…? Sweetie no ones going to applaud you for lying or using a link you’re not suppose to have
NSW Premier on Auckland airport worker: “I would like to think that a case or two which is manageable should not impede any of our progress that we're making in opening up and i'm certainly the first to argue that a managed outbreak should be dealt with and life moves on”
Yesterday’s article by Nick Cater was appalling. At best it was out of touch, irrelevant and poor political strategy. At worst if was offensive, insulting and archaic. Luckily his views don’t reflect many in our party.
@MenziesInst
I really don’t understand why every hotel and holiday rental puts their powerpoints BEHIND the bed. So every time you need to charge something you have to haul the entire bed half way across the room to squish in. Seriously. Nonsensical
If you want an exercise in how journalists ruthlessly lie—please examine the
@guardian
current headline claiming that I suggested we “invade Australia”, absent my following sentence, “I say that of course, in jest”.
Why the rush to lie? Because I told the TRUTH.

At 5 this morning I was pulled over by cops and breathalyzed, cutting it fine for my 5.30 live cross. At 6.20 I was prepared early, ready to go in the middle of this patch. But at 6.30 the sprinklers turned on. Fantastic.
I find the “infectious in the community” figures misleading. Eg today we were told that number is “at least 70”. But there are an additional 22 in isolation for only PART of infectious period + 70 unknown. More than double the number being reported.
Journalists working for years to cultivate relationships w insiders to get scoops and intel, only to be outdone by a man on TikTok. It’s quite fantastic .
Walking along the main street smiling at all the people out and about and cafes with chairs out. A lady came up to me and told me how much she'd missed seeing peoples smiles, which had been covered by masks. Joyful joyful.
It’s not a competition but obvi it is, so here is “Me at 20” with Margot Robbie. We’re not friends but we did have a pretty loose night out in Mykonos together in 2010. She had just wrapped filming for Neighbours and I was working at a dry cleaners. Bisous.
I’ve already made my boyfriend wear a friendship bracelet and bought us matching shoes. Last night he looked at me with sad, resigned eyes as I made him learn a choreographed dance routine. He sure is missing me having my friends around. Ah well. Which concealer should we try?
The country is in tatters but the left and right have really been united by their mutual hatred and anger towards any level of government. How harmonious.
I’m really excited to launch Hilma’s Network today. A new network that aims to drive recruitment and support for female representation in the Liberal Party.
When “people of colour” were legally allowed to sit where they wanted on buses, it wasn’t up to the discretion of the bus driver to exercise his “freedom” and decide whether he would abide by the law. It would be discrimination. The bakers will get over it. Today’s the day, reps.
I had very minor day surgery today and as I was waking up I told the nurse that my boyfriend was taking me to KFC for lunch. Twice. Could I be any more of an 8 year old?
What an exciting day for Victoria, south Australia and orange! Well done to all, lockdowns are hard work and require a big team effort. We look forward to meeting you at Freedom sometime in 2025
@Jeckyl_hyde
They get coverage every time the score a try. And every time they do work shops at a school. We don’t need any more coverage on their good deeds. We need a microscope on the bad.
