I find it fascinating that a Cup Series winner and someone that has competed in the Rolex 24 at Daytona has to get approved to run Xfinity.

@BoziTatarevic Did he run an oval track at any point? That might be the issue.

I absolutely understand that superspeedways are very unique and agree that drivers need to show that they're capable of racing on them. I just wonder why there isn't a Rookie Orientation Program like in IndyCar instead of having to do an entire race.

@BoziTatarevic It’s just a track size thing, drafting at Daytona is so different than anything most drivers have ever done before and mistakes can wreck a lot of people. But in ARCA that’s ok I guess haha

The ARCA rookie test in January seems like the perfect opportunity for this and having an ROP there would prevent uncertainty going into the big weekend at Daytona in February instead of possibly being involved in a wreck in the ARCA race before starting your Xfinity race.

Most of this won't be an issue for SVG as he has resources behind him so the ARCA race will probably be welcomed by him and his team as it will offer him more track time than he would get by just doing Xfinity with limited practice but it is tougher for those with less resources.

Those that might be on more limited budgets if they are starting out may have let certain opportunities fall through or find a way to start and park in an ARCA race in order to be able to run one of the other series.

They may also not be able to finalize sponsorship if the sponsor cannot be assured that they will be approved to start a race in one of the bigger series that they wish to enter.

My view is that there should be some sort of portal or at least a document for drivers stating the required progression in order to enter specific races and on top of that I believe that certain tracks like superspeedways should offer an ROP instead of having to run a whole race.

Lack of practice definitely has an impact and those that have the resources will always welcome running a support series for more track time if possible but having a structured system for entry into each series would be beneficial for everyone.

@BoziTatarevic Maybe the teams could have an on-track session of like, I don’t know, at least an hour, before they qualify. Like some kind of practice?

This isn't just limited to superspeedways but other big tracks also have requirements that are often unclear until a driver requests to run them as sometimes you can run a 1.5-mile if you've run a 1-mile but other times they may deny it and ask you to do a support series race.

@bradxperez Is there a licensing checklist somewhere or do you just have to ask and see what they say?

@BoziTatarevic It’s been a thing as long as I can remember. NASCAR doesn’t want anyone just jumping into Daytona/Dega. Danica, JPM, Franchitti, more I’m probably forgetting all ran arca at Daytona or Dega first.

@BoziTatarevic Drafting. Superspeedway. Everyone has had to do it. Danica. Juan. Even Larson I think. If you go out there and wreck the field on lap 4 of the Xfinity race or cup race it’s not going to look good …

@BoziTatarevic And that approval depends on probably getting wrecked 5 laps into an ARCA race by a 16 year old who has one late model win.

@BoziTatarevic yeah but the second you consider context it makes perfect sense… plate races are quite obviously an entirely different style of race
