You said it best family. we are Africans. We are not denying the contribution of our ancestors to this country. Many of us seems like we are shame to say that we come from Africa we are willing to claim native Americans, Irish blood and Scottish blood except African blood.

I am a aboriginal indigenous Native American Indians that way I get rid of the confusion. This is the best name the describes the original people of the land of North America. Even Malcom X called us aboriginal we are the Native Americans and we are the Indians. Easy

But you are only about 2/3 to 3/4 African. The rest of your ancestry is most likely Irish, from the Irish slaves of Virginia who were bred with the first black slaves who arrived later.

Yes. It’s all because of colonialism. Colonizers force their identity on their colonized subjects. Neocolonizers’ job is to further project the false identity on colonized people so we don’t organize to be a self- determining people.

I prefer the term “American” i was born in america. African-American means either you were a freed slave, or you came to the US and got a green card. So don’t be “fake woke” and speak nonsense. I’m not allowing someone to call me anything other than what i am.

Everything is terminology. I think what Tariq is trying to do is get our people to wake up, and acknowledge their own identity outside of people saying we don’t have a culture. Most cultures across the world try this thing of punching down on us like we’re lost when we’re not.

Is there not something in that name “FBA” that intends to give African Americans claim and ownership to the land of America because their labor did willingly or unwillingly build America from the ground up into what it is today?
In that sense does that not seem positive?
