Burden sharing always an issue… Europe never pulled its weight… but never has a US President or likely President, questioned the basic principle of NATO collective defence.

Europe will continue paying for US energy, US weapons and US innovation while it tries to regulate its way out of subservience.

On the contrary. Trump exposed European leaders who loved to talk about security & defence, about threats real & imaginary, coming at them from everywhere in the world but did not want to invest but let US taxpayers pay for their defence. He was proven correct on Germany.
