I’ve no desire to ‘diss’ a hard pressed bureau chief, but the @TheAtlantic article disseminated by @anneapplebaum should prompt media to hire expert local freelancers when surprising things happen in exotic (!) places. My take on #GE2020 and a ‘nationalist moment’.

@Bentonra @TheAtlantic @anneapplebaum Very nice piece, Ben. But who chose that image to go with it, I wonder? You set up a careful analysis of voter concerns and preferences independent of ‘the past’, yet the photo seems to undercut the point.

Irish twitter trying to convince people abroad (though presumably mostly themselves) that a huge vote for extreme nationalists has nothing to do with nationalism is a sight to behold.
