Even if YOUR project is "harmless," it still sets the precedent for others to take our voice model and possibly make us say horrendous things. And THAT could have real-life effects on the actor if a potential client comes across it and assume its something we actually said.

Our voices are not public domain. I understand fans like to make fanart/projects/edits of some of our actually-recorded work. I can't speak for everyone, but I personally love THAT stuff and will always appreciate the time taken to show your love for our work. (Thread)

So someone just explain to me that my voice/character was stolen and used in an AI thing for some anime song and that really has me heated an angry. I have requested on many of these AI Sites already to remove all clips of me and my work.

But loading up an AI model of our voices is going just a step too far in most actors' opinions (including mine). Fan edits of existing work might fall under "Fair Use" if it's transformative in nature...

...but legal precedent for using someone's specific voice without their EXPRESSED consent is still being figured out/fought for in professional contracts. Technology unfortunately just happens to be outpacing legislation/regulation (which IS needed. don't tell me it isn't)

Most clients are way too busy to do more than a quick cursory check on our past works/reputation. So if they come across it in that cursory check, they could easily misinterpret something that was AI generated as something we actually said/recorded.

@BaugusBryson Plus I've seen a lot of VAs who seem happy to contribute to fan projects for a fairly nominal fee via something like Cameo, provided they've got the time and the project's not offensive. Which *benefits* a VA you like (because paid work) instead of being potentially harmful.
