The Arizona Department of Corrections is pleased to report that a hostage situation at ASPC-Lewis this morning involving an inmate and male employee has been safely resolved with no injuries. The inmate is in custody. More details and official statement to follow.
Today ADC recognized its incredible staff at ASPC-Lewis/Rast Unit who were involved in safely resolving December’s hostage incident. Director Ryan presented Librarian Allen Hartzell with the Medal of Valor for his calm, quick-thinking actions during the 2 ½ hour ordeal.
