30 years ago, I joined New Cumnock Fire Station as an on-call firefighter; attending my first training evening the following Wednesday. Some things may have changed since then but the fire and rescue service's commitment to support others in times of need remains constant.

We will be training alongside partners to simulate an emergency in a high-rise building at Doon Court, Irvine on Wed. 8th and Thur. 9th of December. Expect a heavy fire service presence in the area but please do not be alarmed. This training helps us to protect our communities.

Being a @fire_scot on-call firefighter offers immense opportunities for learning. Tonight, I had the chance to hear more about how Firefighter Sean Murdoch utilised his CPR skills off-duty to assist a fellow resident in his local community. @Scotfire_ENSA @FireMaybole
