Welcome to the world Jackson! 8 lbs 5 oz. On a stormy night, he arrived like a lightning bolt, just 15 min after we arrived at the hospital! Grateful we made it in time, and that we are both healthy. 😍
Good morning! I’m working from home today until I’m cleared from my travels. And without the green screen, of course I took advantage of the rare chance to wear green!

Thank you for welcoming me into your community. I’ve wanted to be a meteorologist since I was little, but I never imagined it would take me on so many adventures. Cheers to many more!
Reminder: I'm not a fortune teller. I'm not trying to nail the lottery numbers so you can win big. I'm giving you as much heads up as possible so that you can make decisions. The forecast changes as new data comes in. That's just how science works.😊
Celebrated my July birthday hiking to the top of Mount Harvard. 14,423 feet above sea level - it’s the 3rd tallest mountain in Colorado. So proud (and sore!!)
I’m back to work tomorrow, but I’ll be covering later shifts this week.
As I chiseled out my car at 2 am, it brought me a small sense of joy knowing I was reminding the whole neighborhood of just how early I wake up. Let me know what pops into your head as you deal with the ice this morning.

Help me welcome our newest meteorologist Dalencia Jenkins! She’s moving here from Salisbury, Maryland, and she originally grew up in Prince George’s County.

I’d like to say that I use reusable grocery bags because they are good for the environment…
But most importantly, they help me toward my lifelong mission to carry in all the groceries in just one trip. 😆
My 4-yr old son just asked me why dogs can pee in the yard but he can’t. First day out of school and he’s already regressing. (Hoping we can all share lighter moments right now, to help us through the tough ones too)
Proud of my frankenplant! Every year, things randomly sprout from my compost pile and I let nature take its course. Can’t wait to see what grows this time. What’s your guess?
This wknd, the rain/snow line could hover over I-95, so we'll be on the edge between a little and lot of snow. While the most reliable data comes w/in 72 hrs of an event, I've made this preliminary map, based on an average of the data, in case you need to make early preparations.
When they let me loose out of the studio... 😂 I baked cakes to explain freezing rain. It was 29 degrees at the surface, but a mile up, the air was around 37 degrees. I’ll try not to eat these before the 9 am show

Is it bad that I’m eating a donut while watching others run 26.2 miles?? I’m in the studio making sure the graphics behave for

Did the thunder sound extra loud today?
That’s common in winter:
- storms form w/ an inversion (cold air at the surface and warm air above). The sound waves have a hard time traveling upward, so more sound curves back toward the ground, which amplifies the sound.

I’m miss practical, and I’m so glad I chose a light weight cotton for this very hot Preakness. Even better, it was already in my closet from a coworkers’ wedding. We’re on the air

Not baby time yet! I was just "under the weather" yesterday. But I'm 3 weeks from my due date: April 18. Shall we start taking bets on the birth date?

Got my flu shot today, and I know it sounds silly, but I think more places should up their bandaid game. Giving adults the option of a fun bandage could lighten the mood and make their social posts more memorable, prideful and shareable. Who’s with me?

Working out of the studio today. The nationwide weather community is gathering in Baltimore to share ideas on how to evolve in this changing world.

Behind the scenes: Meteorologists don’t read from a script during the forecast — instead, we adlib with cues from our maps. But on busy days, I do like to write an outline beforehand. It helps it all stick in my head.
This sign always cracks me up. The Plains are beautiful in their own right, but you have to drive a couple more hours to see the colorful mountains of Colorado.
We’re back from an epic 3500-mile road trip to see our family. My heart is full again 🥰
A day without a 2 am alarm clock is the best birthday gift ever. Walked the Trolley Trail from Catonsville, ate brunch at Georgia Grace Cafe in Ellicott City, and tonight

He who shall not be named guessed 6 more weeks of winter.

I'm already thinking of back-up plans for my kids on Tuesday morning, knowing there could be school disruptions. Though for my kids sake, I do hope it finally snows. The drought snow at BWI is now up to 716 days.

I have no say in the school decisions, but I will point out that all of these school districts have coastal neighborhoods, where we are expecting gusts over 50 mph and significant tidal flooding. So no, school isn't closed today just because "it's raining"
SCHOOLS CLOSED DUE TO WEATHER:
The following public school systems are closed today, Friday, due to the threat of flooding: Anne Arundel, Baltimore, Calvert and Harford counties.
Green screen magic on St. Patrick’s Day ☘️
This is why most meteorologists can’t wear green to work. But some stations have blue screens, and others have switched to gigantic screens

Never a dull moment with my boys. 😂
Clocks fall back to standard time this weekend, but momentum is growing to do away with the time change and permanently stay in Daylight Saving Time. If it were up for a vote, what would you choose?
@wbaltv11
The only way the sled would move, is if you pulled it, down hill. My kids called it the “Best Day Ever”. Can you tell we haven’t had much snow lately? 😆
But they’re still rooting for another 1-3” of snow tonight.

Maternity leave flew by! I’m back in action this morning, and baby Jackson was kind enough to wake me up a half hour before my alarm. 😆 I can’t wait to hear how my husband does this morning getting both kids out the door!
Someone, come get your jeep!
Flooding at the Annapolis City Dock, with tides 2-4 feet above normal. Significant coastal flooding is possible along the Bay through at least Saturday.

Kids these days will never know the pain of getting all the way through grocery store checkout, $100+ deep, including soon-to-melt ice cream, only to realize you forgot your wallet.

Always wondered why the snow/rain lines were literally divided via I-95. Thanks for explaining that it was built along a division of elevation!!!

I tell the story of how I overcame stage fright. I realized my perfectionism was getting in the way of my success. The funny thing is, once I stopped stressing about making mistakes, my mistakes became less frequent.

UPDATED: It is rare for

to put Maryland in the level 4 out of 5 severe risk. The primary threat is damaging straight-line winds, but there could also be large hail or tornadoes. Storms are possible in the Baltimore Area mainly between 3 pm - 10 pm.

It means so much to hear Bernie say he is proud! He was an incredible mentor to me at my first job - and he continues to be a leader in broadcast weather.
A visual reminder to never take shelter under a tree during lightning.
A building is the safest place, as pipes and wires in the walls redirect the lighting into the ground. A car is your next safest option, as the electricity mostly stays in the outer metal shell.
This has "bust potential" written all over it. It's possible the models are overestimating snow instead of ice and rain. But where it does snow, it could accumulate rapidly! It's the fast rate of accumulation that I'm most concerned about for Thursday morning

I'm feeling especially smug that the lunar eclipse occurred during MY normal work hours. FINALLY, it pays off to wake up for work at 2 am. And for everyone else feeling tired, welcome to my life.🤣
