Dear Screenwriting "Educators",
Breaking Bad isn't the only good pilot to exist.
*Also, please learn to incorporate shows that center on & are created by people of color in the curriculum.
White shows aren't the only "classics".

One thing that honestly bothers me about Screenwriting are the completely arbitrary rules. Professional writers break the rules that beginner, novice, or even adept screenwriters are expected to follow and it makes no sense.

Somebody said it. I honestly can't get through the first episode of that show. Have the pilot pdf too. Not every "classic" will appeal to all writers. We need something we enjoy watching in order to enjoy reading it/studying. I know plenty who love the show & I agree w you.

To me it's not even about liking it, I'm just tired of every single site, "guru", webinar, etc., using it to teach from. Y'all really can't think of other examples? I get that the structure is easy to follow, but still.
