When you burn a candle, where does the wax go??? It evaporates??? And if so, where the hell does it go when it solidifies again??? I’m just realizing there is a lot of matter that’s unaccounted for! 🤔

Wax is fused hydrogen and carbon. The fire oxidizes (bonds with oxygen) the hydrogen into water vapor, and the carbon into carbon dioxide, both gasses float away, much like live butterflies. There is literally ZERO matter that is unaccounted for.

You breathe it? There’s a big push for “clean” burning candles that have less chemicals in them & I think it’s because the chemicals get into the air and we breathe in the gross crap. Idk, I’m no scientist
