Jyotiba Phule's wiki page says he did primary schooling in local village school. Then his own family stopped his education. He was a mali, a Shudra. Later he joined a missionary school.
If shudras were denied education how come he did his primary education in a local school?

There's knowledge of Mathematics, Astrology, Chemistry, geography etc. In Puranas. And Shudras have the right to read all Vedic Scriptures except Vedas. Interestingly Vedas are basically prayers but Purans contains treasures of knowledge.
