Guys I cannot stress enough that you need to let the past go. It’s perfectly normal to no longer have the attention span to read 5 books a day when you’re an adult because you have more things to focus on, not including the advent of internet.
If it’s that much of a struggle to cope w daily life & you constantly have shame based thinking about what you can & can’t do maybe it’s time to look into therapy or if that’s not an option you can still try DBT style therapy on yourself w workbooks to help regulate your emotions
Or CBT style therapy! You might have to try several different things before one sticks for you but as it is opining about being a very smart 4th grader isnt helping you!
By the way I didn’t come up with this answer by pulling it out of my ass, I struggled with feeling inadequate and told this to my medical doctor who was like yes this is Empirically Normal I can’t focus like I could when I was a child either that’s Growing Kiddo.
Ymmv with doctors but mine is a very no nonsense little old man and has done nothing but be correct and listened to me when I told him my pre diagnosed adhd struggles so
@executiveoverl1
It’s so hard! I still have lots of trouble doing it! But with some hard feelings and hard emotions you get through it and you hopefully become a better person for yourself
@Akitron
Just saying, I literally still read constantly! It’s just things like articles or fanfics or comics because there isn’t a teacher forcing me to read the book they wanted me to. You’re still doing cool stuff and are still gifted!
@twittysuch
Yeah! I get it, like I go insane when someone treats me like I’m stupid I literally rage black out lmfaoo but you can’t live in your bubble of superiority it’s not healthy
@Akitron
Tbh letting go of the past is gonna be tough given that the last time I felt joy is when my peers taught me that three line S thing in grade 5 ://///
