I think about this all the time, how you nearly never see the same stories about Jewish or Muslim pharmacists or county clerks bc if they did that the narrative would be SO different
I am UNBELIEVABLY fucking tired of "my sincerely held religious belief means that I cannot do my job." Jobs, it turns out, are not generally assigned. CHOICES WERE MADE. You went to pharmacy school. You applied to be a county clerk. You had OPTIONS.
I’m sure there are fringe ones that do stuff like this but overall it’s very live and let live compared to these ppl who keep using THEIR religion against the rest of us
me: hmm the way north american, and even western society will condemn the Other when they are doing the same thing or worse is interesting
a very smart person who must be heard on a viral tweet: actually muslims in european countries are lazy and beg for welfare how about that

I remember a meme going around among the aunts & uncles of Facebook (that was probably not true) about Target cashiers who were Muslim being allowed to refuse sale of pork products & what an OUTRAGE it was. yet, a Christian pharmacist refusing BC is religious freedom🤔🙄

My sincerely held relgious beliefs prevent me from attending meetings that could have been an email.
Oh wait is that not protected?

Jewish and Muslim pharmacists and county clerks have more sense. I don't think I've heard of a Jew or Muslim taking a job in the public sphere and then trying to impose their religion on others. They do their work and then go home to their religious community.

Thinking about how in western countries (okay, USA and Aus, maybe others) with supposed freedom + separation of religion, only Christians are allowed to say “I can’t do X, it goes against my beliefs”. If Jews or Muslims (or other religions) try it, they’re being extremist. 🤔
