Reading the news today, I'm feeling very fortunate to live in Canada - a diverse and tolerant country that values freedom while respecting human rights. We aren't perfect and building our country is an ongoing project but I wouldn't choose anywhere else. ❤️🇨🇦
I'm sure the people of Ottawa, many of your former constituents probably felt a certain way about living in Canada during January and February.

The fact a former cabinet minister is taking this line is odd when people like
@StephanieCarvin
,
@AmarAmarasingam
and
@ARCCollective
have detailed the insidious rise of white supremacy and far-right in Canada via the pandemic.
The fact that
@cathmckenna
was in government (and holding cabinet positions) but has this take really lends itself to when people across this country in marginalized communities tell me that governments are disconnected from people.
We really need to stop with Canadian exceptionalism. Something like the Ottawa convoy and gravel attack was literally predicted by
@StephanieCarvin
when I spoke to her following Jan 6th.

Don’t forget the literal genocide of Indigenous people that still continues w over representation in the child welfare and criminal systems, and the MMIGW.

And the hate crime attack on the Afzaal family, in which a white supremacist killed four people and left a little boy without his family, happened almost one year ago in London Ontario.

I wholeheartedly agree with Caterine McKenna. I have seen a lot of the world. No country on earth comes close to Canada. Do I want to live anywhere else - hell no.

That just seems like a polite, politically correct way for her to thumb her nose at Americans. “I’m so glad I live in Canada where this never happens” isn’t even like, accurate. Why do people like this always need to center themselves around tragedies they aren’t part of?
This is a perfect example of how progressive, open minded individuals prop up colonial, imperial values. If we just put aside all of Canada's major contributions to alt-right white supremacy, it's a great place to live! Even with the horrible misogyny!

Hindu boy was killed in broad daylight in Toronto, systematically theft at Hindu temples in Toronto few weeks ago. These are all demonstrations of Racism and discrimination
