Using such a broad age group (10-59) is highly misleading. Most of the unvaccinated people are young. Most of the vaccinated people are older. Since death rates increase sharply with age the protective effect of the vaccines can’t be seen here.
This chart is deception!
Thanks to
@abirballan
orange line= vaccinated 10-59 y old
blue line= unvaccinated 10-59 y old
Orange line is ABOVE blue line
=> MORE deaths in vaccinated than unvaccinated?
Is the right policy to vaccinate low-risk populations?
ANY explanation

???
For those who prefer blogs to threads, I’ve written this up here.
One important update: ONS confirmed this morning that my explanation is correct and they will use more detailed age groups in the next release (as well as weekly age-adjusted figures). 👍🏻

I decided to have a quick look at the actual numbers.
- vaccinated (2 jabs) > 40 y/o
- unvaccinated < 24 y/o
Standard UK mortality rates of a 40 y/o are typically 3-4 times higher than a 24 y/o.
The chart only shows that mortality rates increase with age, nothing insightful.
